Well Canada is usually about 2-3 weeks behind when updating their policies, so you should be good :troll:

This would be a good time to consider getting a booster if you didn't have a too bad reaction to the first shot.

Hardly anyone here posting is able to get a booster until after January unless they are severely immunocompromised or over 70. Even then you still have to wait 6 months from your 2nd shot which puts most of us in the mid-Jan to Feb timeframe.

68style 11-29-2021 09:52 AM

Yah my dad just got it on Thursday and he’s 70 exactly… I figure we won’t be getting it until February at least.

SkinnyPupp 11-29-2021 10:38 AM

In that case I hope omicron ends up being not a big deal

JDMDreams 11-29-2021 11:02 AM

I wonder what all the companies that pushed vaccine deadlines are gonna do :suspicious:

But there are 'spot' checkers or random and if you do get caught, then you're up the creek but how can this be?

Buddy just flew to prince rupert an hour ago, no one asked him for passport in the entire main terminal at YVR lol. Said he even sat down for a beer at the pub on the domestic side and no one asked there.

That’s good..don’t confirm status when flying to remote communities

6793026 11-30-2021 09:53 AM

my fiance got her 3rd shot so we'll see when we get them here in BC

JDMDreams 11-30-2021 11:36 AM

Didn't they say Canada has X amount of shots in storage already? They are just dragging their feet on rollout as usual.

68style 11-30-2021 11:52 AM

^ No they’re not at all, the CDC guidelines call for a booster 6 months from the 2nd shot… so most of us got our second shot in August or thereabouts, ergo February would be 6 months

Liquid_o2 11-30-2021 12:08 PM

My wife is a nurse and her and her colleagues haven't gotten their boosters yet. ICU and emergency at some hospitals have received them already. Only some people over 70 have received them. It is going to take a while to get to the general public, especially under 50.

Omicron is in BC. FeelsBadMan

https://globalnews.ca/news/8414124/b...ncerns-update/

B.C. has recorded its first case of Omicron, Tuesday.

B.C. provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said it was someone in Fraser Health who travelled to Nigeria.

The province will be doing full genome sequencing on all COVID-19 cases, Henry added.

“We can be confident we are not seeing widespread of this variant in B.C. yet,” she said.

“Where vaccination is low it can spread rapidly. The new variant reminds us we are in a global storm and it is not equal everywhere. There is still a lot we don’t know about the Omicron.”

-latest update:

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2021/1...on-travel-ban/

The federal government has added three more African countries to their travel ban related to the new COVID-19 variant omicron.

Nigeria, Malawi and Egypt have been added to the list of countries where foreign nationals are barred from entering Canada if they have been to those countries in the last two weeks.

The other countries the ban is in effect for include South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Lesotho and Eswatini.

Canadians and permanent residents returning from the 10 countries will be tested on arrival and will need to quarantine until they get result of negative test. If they receive a negative test they can finish their quarantine at home. They will have to be tested again on their eighth day of quarantine.

Unvaccinated travellers will be required to remain in a designated quarantine facility for their entire quarantine period.

Canada is also requiring all air travelers coming into the country, apart from those from United States, to be tested at the airport even if vaccinated. They will also be required to isolate until they get their test result.

68style 11-30-2021 01:28 PM

All these warnings from the feds “Anyone planning to travel know that the rules can change at a moments notice” way to set everyone up for disaster… at least half of everyone I know are going somewhere in the next 2-6 weeks and I don’t blame them at all… hope they don’t fuck everyone in the ass over a not very well researched variant.

Wonder what the chances of a free PCR test in Canada is? Flying to Cali on the 17th and would like to avoid the bs charges.

Omicron = Moronic. Who's coming up with these names? And are they just making fun of it now? Conspiracy groups must be going mental with that name decode. LOL!!

All these variants are using many letters of the Greek alphabet. :suspicious:

Beta, Delta, Lambda, Mu.

Epsilon, Nu, Xi were skipped in use for naming variants.

I also wonder who gets to choose the Greek alphabet letters for naming them.

CivicBlues 11-30-2021 02:29 PM

There was an Epsilon variant though, it was the California variant from summer 2020. No one remembers though because it came to nothing.

Other than the skips we're just moving down the list (greek) alphabetically

hud 91gt 11-30-2021 04:13 PM

Omicron, is small non capital O. It’s not that hard to understand. “O” “micron” aka micro. Aka small.

Cali has a lot of drive thru covid testing, and they do free NAAT tests thru them, so it shouldn't be hard to find a place

The WHO does and they said they skipped nu n Xi because

Quote:

“`Nu’ is too easily confounded with `new,’ and `Xi’ was not used because it is a common last name,” the WHO said, adding that the agency’s “best practices for naming disease suggest avoiding `causing offence to any cultural, social, national, regional, professional or ethnic groups.”’

Although it would be interesting to see the Xi variant become the new global threat, and easy to point fingers at the WHO for being pussies. On the flipside, do we really need to give the fringe/crazies/antis/racists/etc any more ammunition to use. You just know it'll be used in the worst way possible and cause unnecessary drama.

Japan has blocked ALL INCOMING FLIGHT BOOKINGS for the entire month of December. No exceptions - if you're not in the country now, you're not going to be able to get there if you didn't book a flight by now. This goes for residents too, although sea routes may still be running

Luxury.

68style 11-30-2021 11:14 PM

My friend went to Blaine today for 15 minutes... luckily he knew about the ArriveCAN app requirement, which takes like 30 minutes to fill out... but even though he told them he was gone for 15 minutes to 5D for 2 packages, they still "randomly selected" him for a self-covid test... so now he's gotta swab himself and fill out all this shit to send it in to the lab.

I mean... use some common sense... dump some kits on some people who spent a couple nights in Seattle and Portland, okay, sure... but someone who was out of the country for 15 minutes needs a test? What a waste of resources...
