All the rapid test does is tell you if you are contagious at the time of the test or not. You could still have it but not trigger the test.

Got my 3rd jam in Ontario; 3rd doze ain't the same as the first two.
It hit me hard and did a rapid test; I'm negative.

Let's see how this vaccine hits my body.

whitev70r 12-29-2021 08:35 AM

^ similar story with many, for some reason, 3rd shot hit really hard. Wonder why.

Did you get the same vaccine as your previous 2 shots?

Among the sample of 5 that I personally know who have gotten their 3rd dose -- 2 started with AZ and got Pfizer this time, 2 with Moderna and got Pfizer this time, and 1 with Pfizer and got Moderna this time -- they have all been fine after the 3rd jab. A little arm sore; a little tiredness; one was really tired for a day, one had a mild fever for 12+ hours. Nothing really out of the ordinary.

TurboTalon 12-29-2021 11:16 AM

My first 2 were AZ, got my booster last week (half dose of Moderna I was told) and had a sore arm for 3 days, no other symptoms.

whitev70r 12-29-2021 12:00 PM

For those who are about to get your 3rd, try putting a bit of ice on area where you got your shot when you get home .. some nurse's tip. Can't vouch whether it will work or not. Can't 'hurt' to try.

Blueboy222 12-29-2021 01:25 PM

The Producer 12-29-2021 02:05 PM

all shots have been the same. (x2 AZ, x1 moderna half dose? - doc never mentioned that) also x2 flu shots since last october.

no reactions besides the typical bit of a sore arm to sleep on for the first night (which is a bit of a drag because I struggle on my other shoulder too)

JDMDreams 12-29-2021 02:57 PM

I wonder what's the big announcement at 3. I've been hearing from ppl that lots of their friends, colleagues are getting sick. Ppl sent home from work.

SkinnyPupp 12-29-2021 03:13 PM

They start doing booster shots here on Jan 1... I want to do my part but there's not much point since there's no covid outside quarantine. I am still getting weird sides that I think might be from the vaccine, but it's not bad enough that I have to see a doctor about.

I think if I do go in for one (and if omicron slips through I probably will) then I'll ask them to do the injection into my quad instead. My shoulders have scar tissue and on my second dose the nurse had some issues pushing it in. She thought I was tensing up, but I knew what it was

-missed part of the Covid update from Dr. Henry.

Education Minister Jennifer Whiteside announced that a delayed start to the school in the new year for students in order to give teachers and staff more time to implement a plan to protect schools.

January 3rd: Teachers and staff return to work

January 10th: Students return to school.

B.C. recorded 2,944 cases in the last 24 hours and five people have died from the virus in the past five days.

westopher 12-29-2021 03:38 PM

ICU admissions are way down. 5 deaths in 4 days. Could we actually not be totally fucked?!

whitev70r 12-29-2021 03:51 PM

^ really feels like we're not. Once those pills (Pfizer and Merck) become more widely available to mitigate symptoms, hopefully, we can get closer to normal life and maybe put this behind us. Maybe another 4-6 months ... cross fingers.

Alpine 12-29-2021 04:42 PM

If this trend continues, we could be 1 more wave away from covid symptoms becoming indistinguishable from cold/flu symptoms.

I can totally see people mingling with their cold/flu symptoms by fall/winter 2022, just like the good ol' days.

Just go to a Canucks game or a wine tasting room instead.

68style 12-29-2021 05:16 PM

I’ve been going to the gym, my building didn’t close ours for some reason.

Been forever alone there every night though…

twitchyzero 12-29-2021 05:47 PM

apparently strata gyms are exempt

JDMDreams 12-29-2021 05:50 PM

So for all the positive ones, do they still get the 3rd shot? Or they got that natural immunity that bonnie hinted at, by saying everyone will eventually get it

Thanks to your post, I called the vaccination line. I was eligible for a booster long ago and the earliest appointment was the 13th of January. Like, WTF? Anyway, I called this morning and the person on the other end says there's 6 slots available today! Got choices varying from 1:15 to 6:45 at Shoppers Drug Mart at Kensington Square. That's like ten minutes away. So much closer than Italian Cultural Centre. I'm boosted......... like 15 psi. Got the booster like three plus hours ago and not a single sign of side effects. None for the first two, either. Pfizer - Moderna - Moderna.

According to the dude who gave me the jab, there was a backlog due to floods and whatnot about the time I booked the first time. Now that Pharmacies have the vaccine, things are moving along smoothly. I must admit, this time, the shot itself hurt like a mofo. I usually feel no pain getting poked with needles. Anyway..........

The announcement from Education Minister Jennifer Whiteside yesterday:

Enhanced measures include @JM_Whiteside says:
reinforcing daily health check
staggering times to prevent crowding
assemblies / staff meetings virtual only
visitors only direct support
pausing extracurricular sports

I texted a friend of mine, a high school teacher. He said that the only difference for him and his colleagues under these enhanced measures to mitigate the spread of Omicron are the staff meetings being virtual only.

I teach at a high school and concur that the only change for us as well is virtual staff meetings (which we had last year). We’ve had very little covid at our school but I wouldn’t be surprised if we have more in the new year; will be interesting to see what happens if we have a large spread in the building.

I’m crossing my fingers that we don’t go back to online teaching, as I’d much rather be at school with my students!
