Looking to buy some rapid tests online just to have on-hand, any recommendations on brand/where to buy? Quick google search shows a lot of places are soldout or on back order.

HK has almost 20% less of the population vaccinated than the US..lol

Have fun with that.

Yeah, but 7.5 million vs 330 million...:concentrate: although I guess in another way HK is far worse because of the density....lol.

There's a lot of cool info on this page (Note that there are tabs you go through, ie. "Outcomes by Vax1, Outcomes by Vax2", etc:
COVID-19 Regional Surveillance Dashboard

According to this graph you have a 40x greater risk of ICU admission as an unvaccinated person, and that doesn't even take into account that these people aren't able to socialize in public indoor settings like restaurants, yet you still have these fucking idiots that cant cite a single source or stat going off about how "vaccines don't do anything" and "vaccine mandates are literally genocide."

If you take that graph (and ignore the date discrepancies between cases vs. hospitalizations), 1143 unvaxxed and 1269 vaxxed (1 or 2 dose) per 100K got covid. This gives ammo to the unvaxxed going "SeE VaCcInEs DoNt WoRk!!!111"

But of those 1143 unvaxxed, 111 were hospitalized (9.7%) and 19 out of the 1269 vaxxed were hospitalized (1.5%)

Or, of those 1143 unvaxxed, 47 were in ICU (4.2%) and 4 of the 1269 vaxxed were in ICU (0.3%)

But I guess you won't believe any of it if you're convinced hospitals are ghost-towns.

The hardcore anti-vax narrative is stupid at best and dangerous at its worst...but there's no getting to them, they've literally made up their minds based on the worst kind of hopes and dreams, fueled by delusion.

“This is your fault this pandemic is still going on” white woman says to Asian lady.
Actually it’s the fault of predominately white nations hoarding and wasting millions of vaccines lady, lol.

Hondaracer 01-05-2022 04:05 PM

You’d think a family member of the best lawyer in Montreal would know to keep her mouth shut when people are filming your tirades

CivicBlues 01-05-2022 04:05 PM

lol blaming Asians is so 2020. Tais Toi, Karinne.

westopher 01-05-2022 04:09 PM

Blaming other ethnicities will never go out of style in Quebec.

Actually. I find it’s people that come from families like this that think they are above the law/everyone else.

Anyone get a false negative with the rapid tests?

Girlfriend got a negative with all the Covid symtoms. I also got a negative but I’m symptom free.

StylinRed 01-05-2022 06:39 PM

Hear omicron gives negatives on the rapid tests

But she could also just have the flu/cold n not covid

westopher 01-05-2022 07:16 PM

The only way to know is get a PCR. Being sick isn’t an automatic covid so the test could very well be correct.

whitev70r 01-05-2022 07:26 PM

If you get -'ve rapid tests, it is not reliable. From https://news.uchicago.edu/story/when...urate-are-they

Q: How are rapid antigen tests different from PCR tests? Is one better than another?

Rapid antigen tests, which you can buy in most pharmacies, are great in specific circumstances and less good in others. Rapid antigen tests detect COVID-19 when people have a higher amount of virus particles in their system and are more contagious. But a negative antigen test doesn’t necessarily mean you aren’t contagious. If someone has COVID-19, but hasn’t yet reached the test’s threshold of viral particles, they may still test negative with an antigen test but positive on a PCR test. That’s why I tell people they should trust a positive antigen test, but be more skeptical about a negative one.

PCR tests, which are still mostly done at hospitals and other testing facilities rather than at home, are far more sensitive than antigen tests. They’re able to detect smaller quantities of the virus and detect them sooner (and for more time) than antigen tests.

While they’re considered the gold standard for a COVID-19 diagnosis, PCR tests are unnecessary for those who have already tested positive on an antigen test. That’s important to know as wait times for PCR tests grow due to increased demand.

In short: any positive test counts as a positive, but a negative antigen test needs to be confirmed with a PCR test.

My brother got tested on the 30th at a drive in test center and he still hasnt heard back regarding results. Is this normally how long it takes?

whitev70r 01-05-2022 07:51 PM

^ I thought the protocol was that if you don't hear from them, that means it's a negative. They only notify those who are positive.

If it was a PCR test the results should be available in the “my e health” thing

When I went to get tested a couple months back, I got my results in 24 hours via text. Maybe it’s taking longer now since more people are being tested.

hud 91gt 01-05-2022 09:50 PM

My wife’s last test took about 36 hours for the negative test.
