lilaznviper 01-06-2022 01:39 PM

don't think she went anywhere after her husband got tested positive for covid.
she did 2 rapid test and both was negative. she did her second rapid test on the same day she went to get test with a pcr test. so people should watch out for rapid test showing false negative.

She probably caught COVID while waiting in line for the PCR test lol

Keep checking, I got my text on Monday morning, initially booked for Jan 30th, then 22nd, and was able to find one for this afternoon. Their site is wonky in that it doesn't update real-time, but if you F5 it takes you back to the first page.

Antigen test. You need to swab your throat and then your nasal passage. It will give u most accurate result. Specially with omicron that is mainly giving people sore throat.

Very true. I booked my booster originally for Jan 20. I went on the site a few days ago and then kept hitting search every 10 seconds. It updates real-time with availability, so the times and locations always changed. Now I'm booked for this Sunday at the Italian Cultural Center.

Hep B doesn't mutate, otherwise it would be the same deal. COVID Dose 4, 5, 6, etc. will likely be annual like the flu shot.

Spoiled unvaccinated athlete thinking he should get special treatment for the Australian Open ... you're outta here.

I just don’t know why people get so upset about getting a vaccine. Like having to get boosters is this weird straw that breaks the camels back. It’s an inconvenience to have to go in for 15 minutes every few months for sure. But the alternatives are way more inconvenient.

1,000,000x thanks. Got my wife in for tmrw and me on Jan 30th. Will keep trying.

Thanks again!

My thing is kinda like where does it end and when is it better to just have a natural immunity as opposed to having 5 shots a year in an attempt to stave off infection.

Like for me, just had Covid, have natural immunity now on top of being double vaccinated. The booster isn’t adjusted to any variant yet. You’re just getting a lesser dose of the original vaccine. I know it’s just confirmation bias but I haven’t had a flu shot in the last 15+ years and in that time, never once had the flu.

I’ll consider a booster once they adjust it for variants, but unless it’s required for travel, dining, etc. no thanks for now

Are people who got the J&J shot being told to get a booster?

Big three ... Horgan, Dix, Henry, giving presser at 11:30 am, wonder if there are any big announcements regarding schools.

StylinRed 01-07-2022 11:47 AM

Well hospitalisations and ICU #s are up (expected to 4-10x) and they're projecting 100k infected a day, so expect to hear "be calm, be considerate, be kind" blablabla

I get what you're saying, but the science (at this time, lol) opposes your thoughts:
https://www.news-medical.net/news/20...-variants.aspx

Quote:

A study to be published in the journal Nature has demonstrated that antibodies induced by two-dose coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination or natural infection exhibit very low neutralizing activity against the omicron variant of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). However, individuals immunized with three vaccine doses, or COVID-19 recovered patients with double or triple vaccination, exhibit considerable protection against the variant.
Also the term 'natural immunity' now carries a bit of negative connotation because it was used extensively by anti-vaxxers.

I remember seeing a thing on reddit, some guy died of covid and he had a history of posting things like "My natural immunity is getting stronger! I've only had Covid 9 times and it's getting less worse!"

Hondaracer 01-07-2022 01:15 PM

That quote doesn’t really apply to me though as my case was almost certainly the omicron variant so double vacced + omicron infected.

But yea I don’t doubt there’s complete misinformation/mixed messages regarding this. The “expert” who global regularly has on, the woman with glasses who’s like a biological mathematician/virology professor was asked the question straight up one morning while I was watching, what’s the protection like for double vaxxed people who become infected by omicron and she kind of laughed almost and basically said “yea that’s obviously the best case scenario but hard to achieve”

So don’t know who/what to believe anymore when we are talking about whether you were infected with this variant or that and the protection you have afterwards

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2022/0...sures-omicron/

What do you guys think about this plan to monitor attendance rates at schools? -not sure if will mean just more investigations about schools with sick kids from other viruses.

We are in flu season now. -certainly possible for a school to have lower attendance rates because of the flu and not Omicron. Hmmm.

As B.C. schools prepare for a full return to in-person learning on Monday, the province will be using attendance as a key measurement to determine whether there needs to be a COVID-19 response from public health.

“Schools will be monitoring attendance rates closely and will notify public health and the school community if attendance dips notably below typical rates,” Education Minister Jennifer Whiteside said Friday.

“That will trigger a response from public health, which may include an investigation [and] might include the use of rapid tests to get a better understanding of what’s happening.”

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says a 10 per cent drop in attendance of both students and staff will generally be enough to trigger a response, however everything will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Students will be given a refresher on how to wear a mask properly. LUL

Education Minister
@JM_Whiteside

Monday schools will open with additional measures (these already known).
-3 ply masks & refresher on using mask (asking parents to send child with but school will provide if not)
-reduced crowding
-shifted start times

^Yes, I agree. It is definitely hard to keep up, and the water is indeed muddied. And honestly, as long as you're on this side of the fine line of logic/sense/science, whatever, you'll likely be fine and are not a burden to society.

It's the vocal minority, as they always are.

Thanks again!

In for next Wednesday, the 12th now. 11 weeks sooner than my original booking. Appreciate the tip!

lilaznviper 01-07-2022 08:24 PM

my parents just got their invite. booked for feb 3rd at ICC. looks like shoppers and loblaws are doing shoots in their pharmacy now.

hud 91gt 01-07-2022 09:13 PM

I don’t get the natural immunity thing either. A friend used that line today and I was kind of shocked.

Is being triple Vax’d, and having caught omicron (let’s be real we are all getting it), not better then double Vax’d plus “natural immunity”?

What am I missing from an immunity standpoint? We’re lucky it’s supper contagious and so weak at the same time in my mind?

whitev70r 01-07-2022 09:24 PM

One thing we don't know is whether 2 vaccine + getting omicron (& developing natural antibodies) is >> 3 vaccines. Anyone who tells you that they know is blowing smoke.
