Not sure if this has been posted yet. Basically YMMV.

If you got Omicron post-vaccination, medical experts advise not to rush out for a booster shot

If you're now one of a growing number of people who've been infected post-vaccination, you might be wondering when it's appropriate to get a booster — or if you need one at all.

"People should still get a booster," Dr. Lynora Saxinger, an infectious diseases specialist and associate professor at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, told CBC News. "I think the harder part is, when is the best time to boost?"

Provincial guidance on that timing varies across the country, ranging from Quebec's suggestion to simply wait until your symptoms go away to a recommendation from Ontario's top doctor to hold off for 30 days.

There's no magic number, but the science behind how our immune system works means you might want to wait weeks or even months after an Omicron infection to reap the benefits of a booster shot.

So they are recommending that we get a different vaccine from our first two for the booster? Hesitant to do mixed doses more in the sense of what other countries view as fully vaccinated' including boosters for travel in the future. Much like how the AZ people took one for the team early when we first started vaccination.

Hey those of you guys who got their booster, have you checked if the Federal vaccine card has been updated? I got mine on Sunday and it's still not updated for me. The BC Vaccine Card has though.

I got my booster in Dec. Mine updated to include it but I didn't look until over a week later.

Got my booster yesterday and it’s already showing under my federal profile.

hud 91gt 01-13-2022 01:37 PM

Got mine this morning and it’s already showing…

I'm playing grocery delivery to family members.

Luckily the wife and I haven't seen anyone the past few weeks, everyone ended up getting Covid this week. We dodged a bullet.

CivicBlues 01-13-2022 02:24 PM

Damn same with my wife her Federal Vaccine card changed the day after she got hers.

Who do I even contact to look into this?

Hondaracer 01-13-2022 02:26 PM

No one, you gotta go get a 4th shot now

CivicBlues 01-13-2022 02:32 PM

dang I feel gyped :alone:

Started getting chills and sore throat 2 days ago. Escalated and could barely sleep yesterday with how bad the sore throat was getting. Went to nab a test at YVR, they're only passing out quick tests now. Positive.

I've not seen anyone at all since new years, really only been grocery shopping and I wear KN95 everywhere. Insane.

Oh COVID you strange virus.

We were supposed to fly back from Puerto Vallarta (been down here for 3 weeks) on Wednesday. We both took our PCR tests on Monday, checked our results from the condo on Wednesday morning before the flight.

I test negative, my girlfriend tests positive. Our flight literally hours away from departing. I ended up deciding to miss my flight and stay down here with her.

She's completely asymptomatic. Very odd she tested positive, and me negative.

Ah well. Another 10 days in paradise :)

hud 91gt 01-13-2022 03:30 PM

I may have been taking you home. You missed out, but your GF probably appreciates it. Lol.

What's the deal down there for her? Like quarantine wise?
Guessing she needs a new negative test xx hours before the next flight now?

Me and two buddies going down in 2 weeks, to Sayulita 1hr north

Are you allowed to stay together though? I read places that won't let you stay with a SO if one of you tests negative. It's insane. They should just test us all on arrival instead of this BS making you sit in a hotel for another 10 days.

What if: Mexico govt be like

Send back the results positive on 25% of travellers regardless of outcome, let's get that extra 10 days of income and boost GDP

Emailed HealthGateway@gov.bc.ca and they cleared it up for me within the hour.

And they say Government is inefficient :smug:

One of our contractors mentioned in conversation today that she got fired from her restaurant job because "management doesn't appreciate critical thinking and I refuse to be sheep". Word for word quote.

She's unvaccinated lol.

Be sure not to overstay your visa, I hear they're actually very anal about that now unlike before, and tourists have been deported, when getting checked by military patrol units

Supposedly its a new thing which has caught a lot of tourists off guard, your PP getting stamped with the date you claimed youd be leaving and the police enforces it (that's what I'm hearing anyway from ppl who have gone down there)

I'm curious how it works if she tests negative and he tests positive before the next flight.
