Not being a dick about it. I'm just legit curious how they seem 100% sure that was the cause. | Because the science. Revsceners are able to detect 0.1 micron with the naked eye.

I can get it sooner but.. Walmart? | I am reasonably sure that Pfizer has modified the formulation of its vaccine to allow for some slightly less stringent cold storage requirement. That could potentially be one of the reasons why we see pharmacies being able to adminster the vaccine now.
I also seem to vaguely remember Moderna relaxing its cold storage requirements some time after it started distributing its vaccine as well.
A third but probably more important (potential) reason that a lot of pharmacies are helping with the vaccine now is -- there is a real shortage of medical staff available to administer those vaccines. Medical staff are burnt out from the stress, esp when there are fxxking idiots threatening them or protesting outside vaccination centers. After doctors and nurses, I suppose pharmacists are the next best candidates to help do this?
I lucked out and snatched my 3rd dose appointment on Friday at the Il Centro Italian Cultural Center. When I was there, easily at least 2/3 of the medical staff administering the vaccines were obviously on the older side -- wrinkles, silver hair and all. If I had to guess, those 2/3+ medical staff are probably in the 60+ range, with some looking like they were obviously in the 65+ range. The good granny doctor that gave me my vaccine totally looked like she was a smart and super alert grandmother. Huge kudos to them for stepping up to help with our vaccination efforts, but I think it points to how serious the shortage of staff we have in the medical field is because of COVID.
FWIW, about ~2 hours after getting jabbed (with Modern), my brain started turning into mush and stayed that way for a solid 4 - 5 hours. When the brain numbness started to fade, it was replaced by a nagging headache that lasted until this morning after I got some caffine in me. I was tired and lethargic. I had chills on Friday night that was actually bad enough to wake me up a couple of times through my sleep, but I never got any fevers. The injection site (left deltoid) got very sore -- I couldn't sleep on my left side at all. Saturday continued to suck, but at least the chills went away by Sat evening.
At least most symptoms seem to have past today.

At least most symptoms seem to have past today. | My experience was roughly the same. 2 hrs after the shot (Pfizer for the first two and Moderna this week) I was hit with a lot of fatigue and my thinking/focus took quite the hit. I conked right out for a nap on the couch for a couple hours and was out cold with kids banging on toys and stuff right beside me. No headache, but a very sore arm and chills waking me up a bunch that night. Fatigued and groggy all the next day til the evening, and then I cleared right up and felt good to go at around the 33 hour mark.

Anyone asking for a quad injection? I plan to... They have it detailed on the booking site that they do it for boys, but I think they'll do it for others if you ask.
Probably easier to convince them if you wear shorts |

-got my Moderna booster with wifey this morning at Canada Place.
-pretty efficient process. 30 minute wait for the booster. Then we sat for the usual 15 minutes on those chairs that belong to UBC.
-many people were there for their 10:15 and 10:30 appointments.
The waterfront view at Canada Place is beautiful as always.

Restrictions were supposed to end tomorrow for gyms, bars etc. and in typical fashion no one has any idea what they are going to do. I don't even own a business and it makes me furious for them lol

Dr. BH's press conference has already announced that the restrictions on business and places of worship will be in place until further notice: https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2022/0...-indefinitely/
Was listening to the radio earlier in the morning, and it seems like the gym / fitness center situations are especially dire. A lot of them will probably be forced to close down. |

For all the gym Bros, can't you just lift outside? Run around outside? Home gym? Or are you just there for the view |

haha fuck... I mean I hate gyms being closed too... but you can do entire body weight routines in your own living room without any difficulty if you just change your mindset. I did it for months and months without issue.
If you absolutely need to be in groups to work out there's something wrong with the approach/that's just a privilege not a right.

Is sitting down at a restaurant with your buddies a right? The list of shit that's still open and what you're still allowed to do is what makes these restrictions insane.

Here's how I see the gym issue. For the people that value the gym for one reason or other, its a pretty big loss. I don't consider myself a gym rat by any stretch of the definition, but I did finally get myself a habit of going at least twice every-week. For the "casuals" and "normies" like me, working up bit by bit where you finally have a good rhythm where you consider it part of your weekly routine to go to the gym is tough, its not an on/off switch. We also all know that once you stop going to the gym once or twice, its THAT much harder to start up again.
The social aspect... Did I go there to see people? No, do I need group lessons or whatever to get myself motivated? No. But its a destination, and a reason to get up in the morning and get stuff done and feel accomplished for your day, week etc.
I wholeheartedly agree that it was very good for mental health. Gym time was, time carved out in your day or week that was for you to make the effort, dedicate to being a place A, get better and improve. There was a cost to it, a time-cost, a physical-cost, money-cost, but it was worth it. It was really one of the few things I was doing that I felt I was progressing and not just "waiting it out".
I get that we need to control the spread, and nothing is ever going to be perfect and fair. There's always going to be some industry thats going to take the hit. Some people value the chance to eat-in at a restaurant among friends, some people value parks and outdoor activities, some people value casinos and other forms of indoor distraction like theatres. For some, like me, it was the gym. So while I'm absolutely bummed that it was chosen out of the many to be sacrificed, I'm also not mad about it. There are certainly those that are much more vocal, to the point of being obnoxious about it and there's no reason for that vitriol either. The virus exists, and nobody chose it to exist but it does.
Just throwing out some of the thoughts out there, for those that are looking from the outside in on the thought process of why it isn't just as simple as "working from home bro". It wasn't just about the gains, or getting swol, it was just the whole experience as a destination and a distraction in itself to everything else happening.

Day 3, add another symptom. I think I’m losing my taste? I’m not totally sure but it’s not a loss of taste but a change? Kind of hard to put words to, but I made some green bean/beef/black bean garlic and rice and it just didn’t taste right. My wife tried it and it seemed just like normal, so I cracked a blackberry wheat ale and it also taste… different.

I'm day 5 on mine and mostly feel recovered but still feel sore throat and cough. I was suppose to get my booster yesterday
Worst was day 1-3 for me. My symptoms in the last 5 days were coughing, sore throat, fever, body aches, body chills, fatigue, runny nose in those order. Taking tylenol helped.

Omicron is supposed to have fewer people losing their sense of smell and taste, but it still seems to happen a bit.
Based on what I've read about past variants, some people's smell and taste comes back, but some don't, or potentially not all of it. And some people's sense of taste and smell changed. Since everything is still more or less an on-going experiment, there is no telling how things will play out.
Fingers crossed that it'll just be a phase that you'll get over as you recover.
