Seasonal Influenza is definitely NOT back in full force: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-heal...a-reports.html Quote:
March 6, 2022 to March 12, 2022 (week 10)
Influenza activity across Canada remains low for this time of year. Low numbers of sporadic detections of influenza continue to be reported. There has been no evidence of community circulation of influenza in the 2021-2022 season to date.
|
But I guess we're going back to "oh I got the flu" when it's actually just a Cold/Allergies/Stomach Upset

Late March isn't flu season though, we shouldn't be seeing an uptick of flu cases as typically this is the wind down time and unlikely to pick up.
What if *gasp* it's a new variant that can't be picked up by rapid tests *tinfoil hat on*
PS: Flame jacket on as well

The Omicron BA2 variant is going around in Europe and causing an uptick in case counts now. Fauci is predicting a resulting uptick in US case counts as well -- in fact, I read that BA2 is already accounting for ~30 - 40% of the new cases in NY and NJ. The variant seems to be a bit more contagious than regular Omicron, as well as causing more symptoms.
I don't see a need to freak out, but you definitely want to keep an eye on how this BA2 thing unfolds.

Took about 4 days, but I seem to be over it. I'm not sure if it's the flu or something else.
I haven't been sick in a long time. It kinda felt like the COVID I got at the beginning of the pandemic, except it was weak-ass. I was cold at times, but it wasn't the chills. I didn't get a fever, but I was changing sweat-drenched t-shirts a few times in a night. Maybe some slight discomfort in my throat, but no coughing, sneezing, or runny nose.

Hmm. I heard a colleague mention this morning about a sixth wave happening in Ontario now.
Canada headed towards 6th COVID-19 wave this spring, experts warn.

What do you have against this? Do you think vaccines are harmful?

Even flu shots you don’t take 4 in a year.
The uptake is going to be minimal, as we are already seeing in Canada. I don’t have anything against the vaccine nor do I think it’s somehow ineffective just because it needs multiple doses (as many vaccines do) however, I won’t be taking anymore boosters.
Already immunized, have already had Covid. I’m in a demographic where you’re more likely to win the lottery than be hospitalized. I’ll take my chances going forward. I know it’s confirmation bias but I haven’t had a flu shot in the last 15+ years and in that time, I’ve never had the flu. Live a relatively healthy lifestyle, take vitamins and supplements daily.
At this point, if you’re vulnerable, you deal with it. Uptake of the 3rd shot is already half of what the first and second are. Unless forced people aren’t going to be lining up to take it.

If you knew getting a yearly vaccine would help keep other people alive, and it's already paid for would you take it? (both these are already facts though so I guess I need not bother asking)

Saw an interview with CEO of Pfizer and they are trying to develop a once a year vaccine for Covid ... like the flu shot. I think they know 4 shots in a year isn't gonna fly. People will be much more receptive to 1x a year.

Honestly like even the most die-hard pro vax person must eventually have the thought cross their mind that regardless of how “safe” the vaccines are, it’s likely not in your best interest to being continually injected with chemicals on a quarterly basis.

If you were, it wouldn't be absurd to say whatever, fuck em, they chose it, but I'm not going to refuse a 15 minute inconvenience based on the possibility that one persons grandparents (like my own) or one persons cancer patient kid could potentially have an incrementally lower chance of dying if we are to get it.
As for the chemical part, there's a lot of people I know who love nose beers saying that they don't want chemicals in their body, which is a fuckin laugh.

So unless I’m just missing it both BC and Alberta have removed their unvaccinated ICU statistics.. Alberta’s used to be very easy to find now I couldn’t find it across any of their charts.. anyways.. BC’s latest report:
I get your take on protecting people who are immuno compromised by no fault of their own. However unless you can tangibly show that getting your 4th/5th/6th dose axtually provides protection for those around you, it’s getting much harder for me to blindly follow the public health advice.
Edit* so yea..both BC and Alberta have completely removed their charts that show outcomes that include unvaccinated and their age ranges.. very reassuring..
