Weren't there shortages some years too? I remember there being years where they requested people who weren't high risk to hold off on getting it.

Again, as I’ve said before, that is the norm.
It’s like saying I know a million people who drive vehicles but I now wear a full faced helmet when driving because one person got in a serious accident.
Went to a restaurant last night, run by a very popular restaurant group locally. Small place, low ceilings, likely very poorly ventilated. It was -packed- not one person wearing a mask, customers or employees. Tables mingling, people getting up and moving around without masks etc.
So on April 9th when the passport is gone, those people sitting next to you may very well not be vaccinated at all. Some of you better start bunking down for a longggg period of isolation if you’re worried about interacting with the unvaccinated lol.

You guys are living in a literal bubble if you think people will get boosters every 6 months or yearly for COVID.
In reality that's simply not going to happen.
Less than half of the population get flu shots every year, we're around that same percentile for folks getting booster shots. https://www.canada.ca/en/public-heal...ation_coverage
The vast majority of people were on board for the initial 2 vaccinations, it was sold to the general public as that would be sufficient. Moving the goalpost to a bi-annual or annual vaccination will simply not be adopted by the vast populace.
You can argue all you want online about that, but that won't change the reality here.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare the COVID and flu viruses, yet. The flu virus has been around for a long time, it didn’t stop the world from functioning, and governments didn’t make a flu vaccination mandatory. I don’t think the public will respond well to any new, regularly-scheduled vaccination requirements (unless some deadly new strain appears), but I think many will consider annual flu/COVID vaccinations if they didn’t do so in the past.
Personally speaking, ever since I had kids and my parents/in-laws got older, I have gotten the flu vaccination annually. I will continue to do so, including a COVID shot if available. I'm a healthy male in my early 40s, rarely get sick, and I'm more concerned about getting others sick than being sick myself.

I generally consider myself to be a healthy person throughout my adult life, and didn't think flu shots were really necessary for (non-senior) healthy adults -- you get sick; you let it run through its course, and then you recover.
And then one year in my late 20's, I got super sick from the flu. I think I can barely crawl out of bed for something like 2 - 3 days, felt awful for well over a week, and was legitimately sick for something like 2+ weeks. Ever since that time, I've been getting my annual flu shots.
Fingers crossed -- I haven't been majorly sick with the flu ever since.

Let me prefix that I'm definitely not comparing COVID to the Flu, that would be silly.
I'm merely comparing the idea of a generally free and accessible vaccination. I have companies that run flu shot clinics for their staff, where you have a nurse come right into the office to provide flu vaccines -- the adoption of that is laughably low.
If you can't even motivate people to get a benign and trusted vaccine such as a flu right in their own office, how will we expect folks to visit a pharmacy to get additional/scheduled COVID jabs? I think some people here are putting too much good faith in people's mentalities.
Compound that with the disinformation/misinformation around the COVID vaccine, and its continued downplay by doubters, I'd say it's a pretty large hill to climb there.

Can't compare flu to covid.
Had lunch with a infant / baby doctor at children's hospital. he said you won't see how bad things are... there are so many parents / moms who did NOT get the vaccine.. they get covid and end up being at the hospital..
what happens... dad can't take care, and just have no idea what to do. You see these infants taken to emergency hospitals... when you get 60+ infants.. that's really tough..

I know why, and who won’t be getting vaccinated, or boosted. We also are getting closer to seeing when the results are of what it’s going to cause. Hope everyone enjoys eating out of boxes.

I only got my first flu shot ever in 2020, and then again in 2021, even though my work gave them out for free for years.
I have been getting the Td (tetanus, diptheria) booster every 10 years.
I've got all 3 covid shots now, and I'll get the 4th when it comes out, but not sure how many I'll continue to do after that, unless they can combine the entire lot of everything into one supervaccine...

Barring any changes from a COVID perspective, I'll probably only continue to get a COVID shot if I have to travel somewhere and they require that you've had one within x number of months of visiting their country. A fair number of places seem to be adopting a "must have been vaccinated within the last 6 months" entry policy.

I won’t be handing out any Halloween candy this year until the kids can prove they are double vaccinated, double boosted and flu shot.

Horgan tests positive. https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2022/0...-horgan-covid/
John Horgan
@jjhorgan
This morning I tested positive for COVID-19.
Fortunately, my symptoms are mild and that is thanks to being fully vaccinated.
I’m following public health guidance, isolating and working from home until my symptoms resolve

Spent the last 4 days packed into house with 20 guys on the mountain for a bachelor party. If that’s didn’t do it, the Pride celebrations will have. My wife said I can isolate with the Datsun in the garage. Lol.

Anyone have any recommendations of testing spots for travel purposes? I'm flying to Arizona next week and you are still required to have a rapid test completed before arriving.
I'm assuming the tests from the pharmacy are not sufficient.

From my reading it seems like I can grab a test from the pharmacy and then utilize a service such as this: https://rapidtestcanada.ca/product/t...ion/#janepopup
I have to say, this process is fucking insane. To think I have to pay some private service just to confirm taking a COVID test, the fact we can't just have this done at a pharmacy paid for by the government is crazy.
How is it the Americans have a better system then we do? You can walk into a Walgreens and get an in-person test for free, in any state.
Why are we being forced to utilize these private services here in Canada for a cost?

Find the cheapest one, the switch health ones I purchased for Mexico were a 100% money grab BS and even with a brand new iPhone camera I could have 100% faked my swab to this person on the other end of the camera. She was not a nurse, not any sort of qualified professional she simply worked for switch health and “observed” me over face time doing the test. Which got me on the plane back to Canada.
Here’s a good one for everyone saying by taking the vaccines you’re protecting your vulnerable family members. I just went into a govt. run care facility, this place is basically a hospital for old, decrpid, paralyzed, etc. it’s a sad place filled with the most vulnerable people.
Now, they do ask for proof of vaccination. However, as a “contractor” I don’t have to do a rapid test..where as every single other visitor needs to, it could be your mom, your dad, your grandparent in this place, you’re quadruple vaxxed trying to protect them, and joe contractor who was vaccinated in 2020 and is feelin kinda yucky but wants dat peice work $$$ goes into this place without a rapid test. Awesome.
Not to say it wouldn’t protect in a private setting, but these are places that have had non stop outbreaks since Covid began and the govt. policy is no rapid tests for people coming in to do work lol

Are you sitting down at a table maskless having extended conversations with the residents?

I thought they still needed to wear masks in common areas. It says visitors are, but I guess not residents.

I haven't seen any kids doing it on my street in a few years which is why I'm asking. | 200+ came to the house two years ago, 250ish last year. I had social distancing markers on walkway, separate entry and exit, chute for bags to go down, etc. Started doing this when trick or treating was allowed two years back. Kids from around the neighbourhood and their friends of friends of friends come by to see the display and shit. Cars come by and drop off their kids from god knows where. Yeah, I don't celebrate Xmas, Easter, Kwanza, Ramadan, Ching Ming, Vaisakhi, Yom Kippur, Hanukka, Diwali, or anything else. Halloween is where it's at. Takes me one week to set shit up. Every neighbourhood is different. My neighbouhood is pretty kid friendly for All Hallow's Eve. Most houses give out treats.
