Still wearing masks, and ppl still getting Coronas at work once every few weeks. So nothing much has changed.

westopher 08-13-2022 08:08 AM

For any normal person a whole lot has changed. Did you expect earth to eradicate the disease in 2 years? Or everyone just hides in their basement indefinitely?

Has the pandemic changed for example what you would have previously considered a crowd as not busy but now you're like fuck that's way too many people for my liking?

I've simply adapted to the changes based on the trends and medical advice from the public health authorities. There is no point in living in our basements forever so really, it's about finding that balance that works and is comfortable for us.

Having said that, I am still taking my precautions of wearing a mask and routine handwashing. I got my 4th booster shot the other day while on the same day, my aunt and uncle in California got COVID...for the second time. It's a bit of a no fucks given attitude in California.

I still go out and in big crowds or closed quarters, keep my mask on. We now have a "mask optional" policy at the work place but I keep my mask on when walking around but keep it off while stationary at my desk.

Neither lol though I can still recall in year one of the pandemic many people thought the vaccine is coming and by 2021 we're back to normal. Even at the time I thought that sounded insane. I kept telling people buckle up boys this is here for the long haul.

westopher 08-13-2022 09:58 AM

Sorry if it seemed my answer was directed at you. It was at happyslip 2’s incessant comments about how he’s the only person that knows what’s going on with covid and how to deal with it for about 628 pages.

MarkyMark 08-13-2022 10:08 AM

I don't really think about Covid much anymore until I'm forced to which is usually by way of some bullshit app that is doing absolutely nothing to prevent Covid.

EvoFire 08-13-2022 10:10 AM

We've mostly gone back to normal, but we avoid very crowded areas, Costco is not avoidable though.

The one big change is full time WFH. Some companies are trying to get employees back in, but I don't think it's happening. The one time I went to the office last month there was a positive case. Not going in anymore unless I really have to.

Especially if you've already had it ... I feel a higher level of invincibility for at least 1-2 months. Then apparently, you can catch it again. However, there are now reports coming out that if you catch it multiple times ... there could be more serious consequences.

JDMDreams 08-13-2022 10:32 AM

Catch till you die, #newnormal, gotta catch them all, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger :troll:

All good bruh felt no hate there.

EvoFire 08-13-2022 12:22 PM

Whoever that's thanking, ImmunoErosion, you name is hilariously apt.

quasi 08-13-2022 01:35 PM

I'm not concerned about it, if businesses want me to mask up no issue at all I'll do that but I'm not voluntarily masking up anywhere. I'm not worried about getting it, if I get it I get it.

A few months ago I bumped into one of my coworkers at a supplier (he is our supreme anti vaxxer)
I walk up to him, and ask him jokingly: hey man when are you getting your 3rd booster? (Knowing he does not have any)
And instantly he responds: that depend, are you gonna get the 12th dose when the government demands you should get it?
So I reply: of course! Gotta catch em all, they are like Pokemon cards!!!

Then we both laugh and continue on with our day

I think I read somewhere that they're finding the immunity after getting covid to be quite a bit lower now, with all these Omicron variations. I'd have to look it up to be sure, but I think that's what was said.

inv4zn 08-13-2022 07:34 PM

So I'm looking to book a trip to Korea in Sep. or Oct., and covid is still a thing there.

Need to pay for a RAT 24 hours before flight for all passengers 5+, need to pay for a PCR within 24 hours of arriving in Korea, masks in indoor spaces, etc, for anyone 2 years or older.

Reealllly hoping some of the testing is gone by then, but Korea is one of the few countries still testing and they're at like 100k cases a day.

"Planned improvements"

Best improvement would be to ditch this garbage

"Expanding".

Told ya'll they won't get rid of this process, get used to it :lol

whitev70r 08-14-2022 06:53 PM

I've used Arrivcan 2x ... sped right through customs (Nexus). You basically answer the most basic of questions that agent would have asked you anyways ... how long have you been, where did you stay, etc. So once you show up at the booth, they pull all that up ... saves a bit of time.

What's all the uproar with Arrivcan ... never thought it was that much of a hassle. Am I being tracked or something? I mean ... I'm sure they have all that info with or without Arrivcan.

westopher 08-14-2022 06:55 PM

It's just like the QR code menu thing. People just get upset because it cuts into their time on tiktok.

MarkyMark 08-14-2022 07:12 PM

"It's useless but why not just do it anyways?"

Why not speak up against it if it's bullshit?

westopher 08-14-2022 07:44 PM

I think there’s better causes out there to get wound up about, that’s why. It’s really trivial.

MarkyMark 08-14-2022 07:56 PM

Yeah but unlike a lot of other causes this one is easily fixed. You can't wave a magic wand and fix housing costs, gas prices, nursing shortages, the homeless problem... This you could get rid of tomorrow and all it would do is save people some time.

My parents are too old to learn this app shit and don't quite fall into the 'exempt' category. If they could just wave their vax papers around like they won the lottery, they would.
