People can blame whoever they want, but the fact is, Canada's prime minister is Justin, not the Donald.

Man, laugh tracks make almost any situation seem funny

Yeah I mean that's a Costco run. I'm typically in the $350 every 1-2 months at Costsco if it's just food I'm buying. But this was $500 at Country Grocer, which is insane to me. And yeah I saw people with 5 packs of toilet paper in their cart. Crazy.

But trumps the greatest leader of all time. If he is not closing the boarder why should we?

i'm finding out through news article...still no official word...all my colleagues are unsure if it includes everyone we've been in contact with since then, very frustrating kept in the dark

my gf just got told to be in isolation because of the conference, so now i have to as well. her office is now closed for the week and i'm guessing lots more will be closed.

Been non stop all day setting everyone up for remote work.

Grocery store shutting down for 3 days to disinfect after a CUSTOMER says they were there before finding out they tested positive.

This is the kind of reaction that increased testing can result in. But really, if every store shuts down when one of their customers shows an infection, every store will be shut down.

It's also a reminder to Hong Kong that the pandemic is STILL HAPPENING and that we should NOT be "going back to normal".

Same with Singapore, Japan, China, and everyone else who experienced it earlier than the rest of the world.

What about the patients who visited the dentist? Should they isolate too?

Gender justice and equality before anything else. He needs to have a gender equal task force before he can enforce any quarantines or close any borders down

FYI, I was suppose to get an offer from a new job; they held off due to this.

I'm goign to be in the long haul to be unemployed (since Nov 1, now it's march, i can't see this going well until 4 months from now). I'm blessed to have 1 yr worth of rent saved up; you will soon see roll out of retail people out of a job (zero to virtually no hours) to not have income / can't pay rent and then can't pay for groceries.

It'll be a long haul.. let's see how this plays out. I'm offering no contact pick up food for those who are older within my close friends / relatives / church. No groceries shopping for you (there are free services right now); i'm offered free cooked food.

Let's help those closed one another / loved ones and the less fortunate.

I have a family member who is 62 years old and isn't taking this too seriously and continues to travel to work via transit. Should she continue to go to work for a couple more weeks or should I convince her to stay home starting asap?

punkwax 03-16-2020 08:14 PM

^the latter. If she can.

Convince her to stay home if you can. I don't think anyone will be commuting to work within the next week.

Ludepower 03-16-2020 08:19 PM

People are goin to work to pay the bills. You cant fault her for that. My boss told me its business as usual and we're gonna stay open as long as possible.

Its the government with blood on their hands for not shutting down non essential businesses sooner.

Helpful when determining if you need to get tested:

SEATTLE — U.S. researchers gave the first shot to the first person in a test of an experimental coronavirus vaccine Monday — leading off a worldwide hunt for protection even as the pandemic surges.

With a careful jab in a healthy volunteer’s arm, scientists at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Research Institute in Seattle begin an anxiously awaited first-stage study of a potential COVID-19 vaccine developed in record time after the new virus exploded from China and fanned across the globe.

That's quite a 180 from a few pages back when u were failing everyone who was being precautions. Telling people they r over reacting, saying all good to go on cruises.

Hondaracer 03-16-2020 09:31 PM

Well at that time I was legitimately ready to book a flight to join my wife in NY. Shows how quickly things change, im not ignorant enough to not change my view as new information becomes available.

However I still think the likelihood of me or the majority of people I know becoming gravely I’ll is still very slim but as it seems to be, I’m trying to do good unto others and not go out and potentially spread anything any further.

I’m hoping for everything to be over relatively quickly and that major lessons are learned here so we hopefully won’t have to go through this BS again for some time.

Lots of people still not taking this seriously, more lessons to come. I was at Metrotown today very briefly to get a refund on an item that I only had a couple of days left to return; the food court was pretty packed.

Mikoyan 03-16-2020 09:49 PM

Last Call's coming. Friend working in BC liquor store is hearing they may close as soon as end of day tomorrow, following all the other store shutdowns.

My feeling is that it's going to a full shutdown by the end of the week, middle of next by the latest.

Hondaracer 03-16-2020 09:49 PM

Well, maybe they learn a lesson the hard way.
