So just read a tweet that South Korea is going to resume their pro basketball league in a few weeks because they are satisfied with the current state of containment?

Is there any truth to these little blips of info saying life is getting back to normal in places like Korea and China?

Poorly written tweet, but basically he's saying the sooner a country does a full lockdown, the earlier we'll be able to identify who has the virus, and they can be quarantined properly. Possibly as quickly as 2 weeks.

This also hinges on closing the borders.

2 weeks is far too little because of asymptomatic people, and it can survive on surfaces for up to 9 days. You'd need at least 2 weeks + however long it lasts in an asymptomatic person + 9 days + a buffer since someone quarantined with them won't necessarily get it on day 1. You're probably closer to 2 months at that point.

Note that the "9 days" thing is based on assumptions with other coronaviruses. And even that, that's a "best case scenario". The virus is actually quite easy to clean, which is why you saw them spraying the streets in China. Disinfection would obviously be part of the procedure, and would effectively wipe out the possibility of surface contamination.

Asymptomatic people who eventually get sick, I think the timeline on that is like 2-3 days, though it's been a while since I read that and it could have been updated since then.

It's not that they will resume, it's just that they set a 4 week deferral, 2 weeks ago. It remains to see if they actually resume.

Not sure about normal but my coworker have families in china and he said they are getting better and better as day goes by Been a week and there are no new cases. In fact he even said china is probably the safest right now.

It'd be pretty difficult to ensure proper disinfection inside peoples homes and such though. Lets be realistic here, part of why it spread so much is people don't even wash their hands properly. So 14 days + 3 days + 14 days + 3 days + 9 days = 43 days give or take.

My concern here is people get too comfortable when things start trending downwards, governments want business to resume ASAP and everyone is given the all clear too soon and before you know it we're dealing with COVID-19 round 2, electric boogaloo.

Really our best bet atm is the fast test from Ireland + the possible cure from Australia. I wouldn't have guessed the world would be saved by Aussies and the Irish but I'm not about to complain. In the meantime as much isolation as possible to buy them time.

Oil prices also have a lot to do with the sinking dollar.

Everywhere else except Taiwan, HK, and Singapore, it has doubled every 3 days. Japan too, but they rarely tested

Was at Costco around 7 p.m. Not that busy. They were out of TP some meats and frozen food. They had reduced the number of tills open only opening every second one. the food court only had hot dogs and full pizza. A worker pumped the condiments for you. All the seating in the food area was gone. Tomorrow they will start rationing TP.

Many people are not taking this seriously. Still have customers coming just to buy lotto.
I made this to mount on the counter of our store to keep some space between us and the customers. Made from some scrap wood.

Not really, no.
If only the people at those gatherings would be affected by this your comment might be a little more pertinent.

I certainly thought it was.
I’m not afraid to say I was wrong. Maybe if people admitted they were wrong more often other issues in the world would be treated as seriously as this?
