anyone dealt with airlines and getting money back? Having a go-around with Cathay at the moment

I booked through Expedia flying with Westjet. I was issued a credit with Expedia, I had to contact the westjet call centre though and they issued it on Expedia’s behalf since they’re impossible to get in contact with for a refund/credit.

hal0g0dv2 03-17-2020 10:52 PM

^^^ yeah..... CATHAY is trying to tell me I am not eligible for a refund, I booked through flight hub and surprisingly they will issue me a refund but only when they talk to CATHAY. On CATHAYS website I am allowed a refund with no issues... back and forth BS

Folding@home is running calculations to help with COVID-19 work. You can set it to run all the time or only when your computer is idle (or change it as needed). If you have a computer of any kind (Windows/Mac/Linux) every little bit helps. I used to run it on my spare PS3, I'm tossing it on all my computers now.

I got told to fuck off/too bad so sad basically a week or so ago for my April flight to LAX on Westjet which was booked through trip.com...... but now that Westjet is cancelling all their flights I think I should be able to? Not sure how to approach it though... guess I'll be spending a lot of time on hold.

1) Amazon to stop accepting all products other than medical supplies and household staples to its warehouses amid coronavirus crisis — read the memo it just sent sellers

Amazon told sellers and vendors on Tuesday that it was suspending shipments of all nonessential products to its warehouses to deal with the increased workloads following the coronavirus outbreak.

Amazon is now prioritizing medical supplies, household staples, and other high-demand products to its warehouses until April 5.
The change only affects shipments to Amazon's warehouses, not the last-mile deliveries to consumers.

"We are temporarily prioritizing household staples, medical supplies, and other high-demand products coming into our fulfillment centers so that we can more quickly receive, restock, and deliver these products to customers," the message read.

2) Canada's Six Biggest Banks Take Decisive Action to Help Customers Impacted by COVID-19

This support will include up to a six-month payment deferral for mortgages, and the opportunity for relief on other credit products.

I’m not afraid to say I was wrong. Maybe if people admitted they were wrong more often other issues in the world would be treated as seriously as this?

Not sure who it was who insisted that people apologize to him, and whether they're still around. Maybe he owes us an apology? :considered:

cnn says Canada n US r preparing to cancel travel between the two countries

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/17/polit...vel/index.html

Quote:

(CNN)The United States and Canada are preparing to issue a joint statement in the next 24-48 hours to suspend non-essential travel between the two countries, a Trump administration official tells CNN.

The agreement is not yet finalized and officials are still working to define "non-essential travel," but the official stressed that the new restrictions will ensure that business and trade between the two countries can continue

Non-essential travel means no more parcel pick ups in Blaine and Port Roberts?

with sign language only having hand/arm movements, i'd imagine you can't articulate yourself nearly as well as with speech. a lot would get lost in translation without a doubt, so facial expression probably helps a fuck load. that guy is probably the fucking hemmingway of sign language.

Are the contents of the parcel essential to your livelihood? If so, the border guard will need to agree. If not, leave it there.

blkgsr 03-18-2020 08:10 AM

glad i got my last parcel a little while ago

StylinRed 03-18-2020 08:42 AM

the cnn article was stating that essential travel will be very broadly defined

Quote:

Some of the ongoing discussions involve what types of vehicles and individuals would still be allowed to travel between the two countries and for what purpose, the official said. The restrictions will likely allow for significant flexibility.
so if you're picking up packages for say.. your business? seems like it'd be fine

kind of like how everyone thinks saying their cough/runny noses/fever is "just allergies" is cool, since everyone hearing that is just like "oh okay"

Federal aid package, $82B.

Quote:

The emergency aid plan includes:

- Temporarily boosting Canada Child Benefit payments, delivering about $2 billion in extra support.
- A new Emergency Care Benefit of up to $900 biweekly, up to 15 weeks, to provide income support to workers, including the self-employed, who have to stay home and don't qualify for paid sick leave or employment insurance. The measure could disburse up to $10 billion.
- A six-month, interest-free reprieve on student loan payments.
- Doubling the homeless care program.
- Extending the tax filing deadline to June 1.
- Allowing taxpayers to defer until after Aug. 31 tax payments that are due after today and before September.
- $305 million for a new Indigenous Community Support Fund to address immediate needs in First Nations, Inuit and Métis Nation communities.
A bit skeptical to the long-term effects of this, but I'm sure it's a relieve in the short term for a lot of people affected by this.

Actually USA is way worse. Just look at history, China is probably the least aggressive nation in terms of trying to take over humanity. Germans, English, French, Japanese, Americans, etc etc.

In fact I would go so far as saying that most western countries are the same as China. Look at Italy for example, when news got out about quarantine in the north, tons of people escaped in terms of self preservation, knowingly they run the risk of infecting the rest of the country.

Communism, democracy, western media, Chinese media, Western beliefs, Chinese beliefs, same shit different pile. When shit hits the fan, ALL government will think of the greater and self preservation over looking out for individual human rights. China is just upfront about it, while western governments make you think they care about you, but deep down under it's the same.
