SARS, though more deadly, was far easier to isolate because you'd feel sick around the same time that the virus started to shed.

But yeah, other than that there are no places to drive to, but personally I would just drive around without a destination since that can help me relax. | You don't need a fresh oil change or a detail to go to the grocery store though. Even if it's 10km each way and you go once a week that's a whopping 80km a month. Going a couple hundred km over on an oil change will make absolutely zero difference.
If you're really that worried buck up and do it yourself. If you can't DIY an oil change that's your own problem.

Yesterday I told a guy if he couldn't maintain distance with me he had to leave. I don't think anyone wants to be on the news refusing service to somebody, you know how things get twisted. | I won't say where I work but we're a service. We're asking if they've been out of the country, anyone sick and if we show up and we don't feel good about it, we tell the staff they can refuse service and leave.
No one is going to side with the moron that decides to go on the news at a time like this and try to twist your words and we're deff not sending our staff into a potentially hazardous situation. That's more of a liability if you ask me.

Body shop ✋
This is the busiest it’s been all winter. We’re strictly enforcing social distancing with occupancy in the office and customer to office staff.
I think it’s mostly due to people having more time on their hands to bring their vehicles in for repairs vs before having to take time off work.

I hit up my mechanics shop today, he said it's been steady, I'm gonna drop off my car for service this weekend, because my work closed and I actually have some down time and don't need my car. I asked if he's gonna close to shop but he said he it's day by day right now, and he's worried that he won't be able to get parts if more things shut down. I'm also worried about my car insurance expiring soon and I won't be able to renew |

You can do it over the phone now, and the police have been told to ignore the date sticker. https://globalnews.ca/news/6699257/c...rance-renewal/
Can you imagine 40 years ago if some one said it would take until 2020 to be able to renew over the phone?

I read the BCAA auto service center closed and some small independent operators taking a break. I see most sales departments are shortening hours and some closing Sundays. What is your dealer doing to flatten the curve? Staying open?
We are not able to maintain social distance in our shop, for that reason alone a business in B.C. is ordered closed, but we remain open.

Our dealership is also still opened with shortened sales hours, service is still the same. We're going on modified shifts to minimize our time interacting with other people but still no word on when that is happening, most likely Monday if we haven't been shut down yet.

I have a car salesman aquaintance for a private preowned dealer who said walk in business dropped like falling off a cliff when everything hit the fan a few days ago. His employer has been good to them and trying their best to not lay off anyone and is keeping everyone busy with make work and catch up stuff, but they are also short staffed because of sick leave/self quarantine (cold or flu), or they are taking time off to to stay home because of kids and family. My friend has been in the office using the time to personally call all the customers he's been recently in touch with in hopes of not losing anyone after this is over.

Suddenly, the shop I take my car to for maintenance had wide open availability, so I took advantage of that and schedule spring maintenance with them. Rather than meet them in person, I would show up in the evening, drop the car off, slip the keys into their drop off slot, and hit a ride with a friend, then do the same the next day when it's done. Payment is taken care of with my credit card on file, so no face-to-face interaction required.

Staring Monday our service/parts departments are no longer open Saturday, and sales is no longer open Sunday until further notice.

Our dealership is still open for business as usual, regular hours.
But I don't see that lasting for much longer, our shop has a total of seven appointments for this Saturday.
Bodyshops are starting to not take in new jobs anymore, just in case ICBC shuts down they won't be stuck with rental costs. (And also potential delayed Parts)
Hearing through the grapevines new finance rates as mentioned already in this thread and also potential late payment options / forgiveness for current lease and finance customers.
