I’ve been inspired to make bread now. Don’t have yeast in the house so plan on testing this recipe out: https://celebratingsweets.com/honey-...east-no-knead/

Out of all the insanity coming from this virus situation, one of the most mind blowing to me is the prevalence of the use of Zoom, despite absolutely clear evidence of spying, including direct ties to chinese spying. Like what the fucking is going on?

You can make your own yeast, it's fairly easy, just requires time

1 part Flour + 1 part water, mix, cover and set aside, add a spoon of flour water to it twice a day, week later you got yeast

the issue with skype the last time i used it for meetings is the video, where it can only see one person at a time, where as gotomeeting, webex, teams and zoom you can see everyones video feed at once.

and that zoom is free to an extent which makes it popular

I have most of my clients running teams since it comes with their office365 email subscriptions already and gotomeeting to host bigger meetings.

I think most people would do the same.

Though, if you practice proper hygiene measures, your risk of contracting Covid-19 is very low.

Look at Taiwan, business as usual, but everyone know's what to do.

BTW:

Does anyone know what benefit you apply for if you have reduced hours at work?

Ex. Before, working 40hours a week, but reduced down to 12-15 hours.

CERB website clearly states you can't be earning any income during benefit period.
The same thing is said for EI regular and EI sickness.

It was broadcasted that if you have reduced hours you could apply for CERB, but on the CERB website they seem to have changed that and it clearly states you can't earn any income.

If anyone know's please pass on the info.

Thanks!

Yea I'm curious as well, I read up on CERB last week and it said people with reduced hours were eligible. I guess they changed it last minute since I do not see that criteria anymore.

I know the SERVICE CANADA physical offices are closed to the public, but do you know if you can still drop your ROE in an envelope in their drop box?

I already applied to EI today, reading thru the website it seems it will automatically be bumped into CERB.

I am waiting for my boss to send me my ROE in pdf format to my email smh... once i get it....

I am torn between
- dropping off a physical copy at a SERVICE CANADA local office
VS
- mailing it out in regular post mail (honestly not sure how long that process is gonna take)

All my other friends companies, the boss sends the ROE to CRA directly... fuu lolol welp

ROE is required to be uploaded to CRA directly. In order to file a ROE, you'd have to fill it out on CRA's portal. I'm not exactly sure why yours wasn't and perhaps I'm wrong - but this is what I have been doing for everyone's ROEs in the past 2 months across multiple clients. A copy is mailed to the individual employees. Perhaps clarify with your boss if it has been sent to CRA as well.

To answer your question, whenever I mail anything out to CRA, it is mailed via express and insurable. Given the current environment, I'm doubtful that they'll get to it in a timely manner.

Also in regards to CERB, note that there are specific application dates depending on your birth month starting on April 6.

Microsoft Teams addresses the issue with Skype where you can see everyone at the same time. Most enterprise organizations who use Skype now should, at some point, consider migrating to Teams, which so far, I quite like out of all of the video conferencing/collaboration options on the market.

We've been using Teams and it's awesome. Even on my phone if someone is screen sharing their computer I can read it clearly.

Did they update it? I use Teams everyday for work (last time was yesterday morning) and at all our meetings we can only see 4 main webcams at once. Would be great to see everyone at once.

I've been baking bread for a few days now. Yeast has been extremely hard to come by; from save on, safeway, superstore.. all gone. Flour is easy to get esp from Costco but man... it's EMPTY shelves each time I go.

Anyhoo, if you hvae a dutch oven (le Creuset), you can make no kneed bread; super cripsy. I've made it so many times cause it's so easy.

As to no yeast... there is a huge "following" on making and feeding the culture / sour dough... I gave up as it takes a LOT of feeding daily so you have to be dedicated do it. Have yet to put it into a freezer though. Friend has one that's been growing for 4 yrs.

cranberry loaf
green onion
but last one is olives... was the best...

A lot of companies are most likely doing this because it's stupid easy to use, so all the technologically disadvantaged employees can use it.

Last thing you want to do is have a Skype team meeting where someone keeps asking if we can see them or if we can hear them

Yup... afaik they haven't changed this limitation of 4 on the screen. When you use the web app I find that you can't even toggle the setting to do that, you just see the person speaking.

the functionality of teams is honestly so bad, if it had half the simplicity of Zoom it would be way better.
