I've been passively considering one of them Northrock bikes from Costco the past few years to get into Cycling, but just never had the additional desire and wasn't sure if I should go for a mountain or a road bike.
Used to love mountain biking as a kid but nowadays its a pain to drive out to find trails. I have never road-biked and so don't know if I would enjoy it. It seems enjoyable though from enthusiasts I speak with.

kinda sad but what can we do... | People need to get over birthdays. Moreover, so what if you skip celebrating your birthday one year, there's always next year.

The older I get, I start to appreciate quality time with my friends and family more.
I actually just started talking to my parents way more the last few years and I love it. Having asian parents, communication between us was never good, but my parents are so amazing, I just didn't get a chance to get to know them.

See if you could give a gravel bike a try (think a turbo Subaru Legacy)! They're usually steel framed and a lot more comfortable/versatile than a pure road bike. You also feel a lot less of the road surface and gravel/rocks don't make you worry about your wheels and tires (friend's gravel bike had 47mm width tires instead of the 25 I have). There's also cyclocross bikes that are a bit more aggressive (think WRX STI)
Not sure how tall you are, but you're welcome to come give my road bike a try if you'd like - it's more on the sporty side (think E90 335)

I could easily do 4 complete B swaps in EG's, including the cars and have 4-5 K24A2's and a K20Z3.

Yes, road bike is tough to get used and you have to bend forward etc. but it's less messy to take ur dirt bike out to trails.
i went full retard with road cycling so you can pm me if you have questions.

Ones love to celebrate a birthday I believe is directly proportionate to their lack of stressful life experiences.

If, by any chance, you need anything, like a place to work on cars, tools, etc. I'm there............ 6 feet apart, that is, gulolol. There's all the other people on RS you've gotten to know over the years. I don't think any of them will hesitate to help you out, as well.

I feel for my daughter.. she turns 13 on Thursday and I recall becoming a teenager as being a bit of a big deal. So yesterday I was hanging LED’s in her room and she’s synching them to her Google Home to have a dance party with her siblings.
Also let her go a little nuts on amazon and tossed her her first $100 bill. Doing what I can to make this as special for her as possible because aside from a couple of driveway hellos with her BFF and grandparents, she’s not getting much else. Oh her favourite sushi too.. I got to make sure they’re open still!
Parent pro-tip: I was going to give her the $100 anyway but I positioned it as though she’s earning it each day by watching her little brother while mom and dad watch an episode of Zero, Zero, Zero. Win win!

Mind you, I should listen to my own advice, YODO and celebrate every moment I'm alive and healthy - every day is a bonus.

If anyone is craving to do pull ups and such during this whole quarantine, I purchased a life saver last week that has been great in my backyard here. https://www.roguecanada.ca/rogue-wood-rings
I didn't buy the exact pair as above, but picked up a similar pair from a calisthenics gym in Port Moody (they have plenty of stock apparently).
I have these setup on this wood pillar that runs above my patio.
It's been a life saver for me, way easier than drilling and setting up a damn pull up bar, potentially pissing off my Strata.

I love my rings. I have them setup with my TRX. Recently started using rings for the pulls vs the bar as I’m old, don’t celebrate birthdays and it was hurting my joints.

Week 8 of isolation, getting a little stir crazy. One thing is evident, I get more work done at home then I ever did in the office and quite honestly was expecting the opposite results. Since being home I've been sticking to a pretty tight schedule of starting work at my regular time, problem is I haven't been ending or stopping at the regular hours I work longer hours and not only that I'll find myself taking a break for dinner spending a bit of time with the wife and then heading back to my office to do more work.
The other night I was just going to reply to some emails before bed then 4 hours later it's 2am and I have to be up in 5 hours.

The other night I was just going to reply to some emails before bed then 4 hours later it's 2am and I have to be up in 5 hours. | Yup, I made this very clear to my team early on in the situation to look out for this, that it's too easy to continue working and risk burn out.
Important to set clear boundaries, both physically and mentally between work and not work. Have a routine in place to indicate when work stops.
I make it a point to walk around the block when I turn off my work computer, and almost 'commute' home so that when I return, I'm in 'home' mode and avoid checking work emails as much as possible.
My work gave a wfh credit to allow people to buy things to make their workspace more comfortable, and every team member I talked to said getting a proper desk/chair/standing desk etc. setup (vs working from a couch, kitchen counter, etc) made a world of difference.

I'm sure this has already been mentioned somewhere in this thread already, but it is worth repeating that if you're WFH, some household expenses are tax-deductible. You just have to get your employer to fill out a T-2200 form. (And of coures, you have to keep your household expenses invoices as proof of expenses.) https://globalnews.ca/news/6841867/w...able-expenses/ Quote:

The other night I was just going to reply to some emails before bed then 4 hours later it's 2am and I have to be up in 5 hours. | We had this conversation in our virtual team meeting on Monday. It seems that households that don't have young children are finding the entire idea of working from home very appealing. They're getting more work done with less distractions, whereas, employees with a younger family find it to be the opposite because their time is being taken away by their kids wanting mommy/daddy time.
