My temporary assignment at work ends today and they won't be extending any of the temps due to a low volume of work. They mentioned that we'll be on a recall list when things pick up.. but who knwos when that is. Good thing they're considering it a layoff and will be providing us with an ROE.

If you can’t find one, I can ship you a Logitech C920 if I can find it (we moved in December, still in a box somewhere).

Wouldn't that be irony, Feds lay off workers, then they can apply for Covid Emergency Fund OR Government can apply for the 75% subsidy to pay their employees.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully work picks up again soon.

With provinces slowly reopening up now, hopefully my work doesn't reopen right away back the office completely. The amount of things I can get done now working from home is unbelievable as I shave off easily 1-1.5 hour of commute time which I can devote to exercising more/personal errands. My body feels healthier physically and you feel more joyful without the dread of "commuting".

Who else was working at home but is back in the office full time?

I stayed home March till the end of May went back for beginning of June which was my choice. Working at home production level was 130% now back at the office It's probably 70%, so hard to focus here which seems weird.

I think it's a combination of getting back into a routine and also the projects I'm working on right now just don't interest me at all. Days were flying by when at home here they are dragging out like a mofo.

Yes its the steelcase gesture. Picked it up for $1250 at modern office furnishing. Its incredibly comfortable and adjustable. Have not had any back issues since using it for 6 weeks now.

I have been sitting my ass in this chair for like 10-12 hours a day since I'm stuck at home.

I'd say its worth the money but my company covered it so I shouldn't really comment on value.

I finally got to try out the Gesture, and I think I may like it the most out of all the Steelcase and Herman Miller chairs I've tried.

I did make the mistake of trying it both with and without the headrest, and wish I didn't cuz it made it super comfy when you recline, but it's an extra $200 and you only use it when you recline

Still working from home 100% (hopefully indefinitely LOL). I just hate the act of getting up and commuting to work (not that I hate working in the actual office itself). I just spent $400 on a new office chair from Autonomous, night and day difference with my cheapo $130 leather Staples chair from 5 years ago.

bobbinka 06-18-2020 10:16 AM

bought a used Steelcase Leap on CL. wish i had pulled the trigger sooner. it feels good to have a proper chair to work in.

invader 06-18-2020 10:24 AM

So many choices for chairs, how did you guys narrow it down to one?
I need to upgrade my chair badly

Gerbs 06-18-2020 10:25 AM

My office has officially reopened for those who want to return to the office. However, they decided that everyone is just as efficient at home so we are allowed to work from home as well. I don't think I'll return to the office more than once every 2 - 4 weeks.

EvoFire 06-18-2020 10:26 AM

Still working from home full time.

Amazon has said they don't expect to have ppl back in office at least until Oct.
EA not until next year.
Shopify going full remote.

Don't think the tech world is going to have everyone back to offices anytime soon. No company wants to be that first.

1. Read/watch a ton of reviews
2. Try sitting in some

That's the only way to know if a chair is for you.

The Herman Miller Aeron and Steelcase Leap V2 are two of the most popular chairs. There are a lot of comparisons online you can check out.

6793026 06-18-2020 10:55 AM

^^ that's because amazon and facebook in Seattle are still having outbreaks.

I bought this one. I contemplated Herman Miller since I literally sit at my desk all day for long hours (I'll use the crap out of it and get my moneys worth anyways), but the price tag for Herman Miller costs twice as much. Went for a cheaper alternative that seemed bang for buck. There is a 10% discount code and then on arrival I complained about some minor issue and they issued me another 10% refund (total 20% off lol).

pastarocket 06-18-2020 11:15 AM

-finally got my work cell phone and laptop from management. :lawl:

-have been working at home since mid March by remote access to network using my home PC.

-slowpoke federal government gives me a work phone and laptop in early June.

Hey that chair looks good, and it resembles the Herman Miller design. How is it so far? Would you recommend it? I need to buy two chairs total. Did it ship from within Canada? If not, did you get slapped with duty?

For $400 (tax in total - after the discounts), it's definitely good bang for buck value without paying the hefty price of Herman Miller. It shipped from Canada (no duties from Fedex). So far so good, it keeps my back straight with good posture (I don't feel tired or discomfort sitting long hours so far). Shipping was stupid because they sent me an email item has been shipped in the morning and 30 minutes later it arrived at my door (not sure what happened there).

Nvasion 06-18-2020 09:40 PM

I got this chair

https://store.steelcase.com/ccrz__Pr...ZC9FX8FN8TV3ZP

Best chair for me ever! Was 1000 bucks though. Good thing work paid for it.

68style 06-18-2020 10:34 PM

I would never pay more than like $100-$150 for an office chair, that shits crazy... you guys are too into brand names

(Though if work is paying for it, why the hell not hahaha)

underscore 06-18-2020 10:40 PM

There's a lot of things that seems pricey but when you factor in how many hours of use you get out of them it's pretty reasonable. If you're working full time you're spending about 2,000hrs/year sitting in that seat or looking at that screen.

My entire office is WFH until Sept at the earliest. Even then, it'll be a phased return.
