please please please for whatever reason you're in, ensure you negotiate your package of the new company before you join.

Last you want is to be hired by new company, on 3 mth probation with no benefits to be let go after 3 months.

i'd signed a contract to move companies earlier this month....just days before it all really blew up.

i was going to give notice on the 12th but not have to do it next monday so i can start on my agreed/signed date of the April 14th.

i'm very hesitant to move at this time but my role is specialized (to a degree) and i've already been signed off by the client.

I think they were probably close to tanking before the sh*t hit the fan. How bad of a company are you that in 2-3 weeks of shut down, you announce you are closing for good. Their prices were twice that of Club16, they were constantly in lawsuits with Steve Nash, the person. Terrible for their staff but this is obviously a case of piss poor management.

twitchyzero 03-26-2020 10:09 AM

member renewal/mgmt at brentwood will not be missed
sorry for everyone else though...the ones at kingsway were very friendly

Acura604 03-26-2020 10:58 AM

F*K. i was paying $20 a month... member since 1999 and got a grandfathered rate.. damn...

Hondaracer 03-26-2020 11:03 AM

Steve Nash had to close because they no longer had patrons to pester with their sales pitches.

Fuck Steve Nash Gyms, nothing bad bad experiences with them personally and they were pretty much setting up their trainers for failure

TouringTeg 03-26-2020 11:05 AM

F*ckFitness World. Anyone who knows someone who worked there should know how bad it is. I can't believe someone worked from them since 1988.

Did the employees get fired? I thought one of the news articles said they were laid off so they could collect EI?

PeanutButter 03-26-2020 11:11 AM

Hey,

Have you had any friends that got social distancing tickets? Fines of $1000 EACH if they don't live at the same address?

I've heard three separate accounts of people being pulled over from this, but I have yet to see the actual ticket.

Anyone else hearing anything about this?

ie. they were in their car together and they got pulled over and ID's checked. Then they got tickets of $1000 each if they didn't live at the same address.

I've been getting the same thing from several different group chats I'm in. Nobody is able to provide any proof of actual ticket so I still dont believe it. Always the same story with all of them too.

Don't think so. I was walking to the park and around the block with my wife and no cops seem to bother us even though we saw a cop car cruise by.

Also with your example what if I was with my parent or sister going out or something since we all live at different address do we get fine? We are a family after all so what's wrong with family going out together?

Fired and laid off are used interchangeably.

If you're non union, employers have the ability to terminate you without cause at any time in most cases, unless specified in your employment contract.

Firing an employee with cause so that no severance is paid has a high legal threshold. Companies 'fire' people all of the time, but they do so without cause and pay a severance that both parties agree to. Fitness World would have likely offered severance packages to all employees who were let go as per their obligations under common law.

DragonChi 03-26-2020 11:50 AM

I thought fired was with cause, ie. the employee fucked up. Laid off was due to circumstances outside of the employees control, like lack of work.

Doordash etc. will also list restaurants available for take-out and what's open as well if you don't want delivery.

Awww yeah, my favourite local brewery (Hoyne) is doing free delivery on orders above $60, and their pricing is same as liquor store. Ordered at 11, delivered by 3. All set for the weekend.

This virus thing is really going to shift a lot more people to delivery based services, that's for sure.

punkwax 03-26-2020 02:17 PM

^ yep. Learned Costco can deliver food as well. I’ve had a few deliveries over the last couple days. Very interesting to have a sanitization station set up at the front door to disinfect everything from the outside world.

4 days of quarantine to go...

I used to work for Shaw Business and to my knowledge - there is no bandwith priority for business accounts over residential.

Your slowdown situation is more likely due to your router supplying bandwith equally amongst all devices. Check your router wireless settings - if you have a newer router, you may be able to prioritize the MAC addresses of you and wife's devices, or lower the priority of video streaming.

Oh man, I hope they deliver to Duncan. I’m getting low on my beer stock and their pilsner is great.

hud 91gt 03-26-2020 05:12 PM

You guys better be lying. I was paying $11.75 a month!

Unfortunately they'll only deliver within a 20k radius.

Red Arrow does free delivery over $50. They're not Hoyne, but better than many others.

Time for new keyboard. Wife thinks typing on my gaming keyboard is way too loud. But I love the feel of the keys!
