Hair clippers/shaver Looking to get a kit to have my SO cut my hair at home. It's starting to get out of hand lol. Anyone have any recommendations? |
I use a Conair barber kit (paid like $25 from London Drugs, 12 years ago). Still working and no issues. I cut my hair myself every 2 weeks, I prefer to have shorter hair, I feel more fresh. My hair grows back pretty quick, even the odd day I mess it up, it'll grow back in no time LOL |
Most of the stores online I've looked at are all out of stock for the more well reviewed Wahl clippers I was looking for. Ended up ordering a Conair set from Costco online. Should be here next week. My hair's starting to look like Boris Johnson's. |
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07WG5SMGW/ I received this from Amazon earlier yesterday and did my cut today. The hard part was doing the back of my head. One hand held up my selfie cam while the other held the clippers. Overall, it took about half an hour and turned out pretty decent. I tried looking for the Wahl ones but they're sold out everywhere. |
https://www.hairclippersview.com/wp-...-clipper-1.jpg been using this for years. i perfer metal than crappy plastic ones. Have you SO use 2 digits than you actually need to start off. I'm usually a #1 but i start with #3 first... and just work the way down. whatever you do, PLEASE LUBE your clippers cause after 30 minutes (1st few tries) it does get hot (esp summer is coming). |
Didn't even think to look at Costco. I'll check out what they have online. |

Nice. Going to see if I can pickup that kit instead and return the one I got online. |

Using this right now https://www.philips.ca/c-e/pe/face-s...e-trimmer.html Phillips 7000 Series comes with 23 pieces Looks to be sold for around $100 - $130 right now I got it on sale at Walmart about half a year ago for $75 pre-tax just for your reference. |
Was at DT Costco today and they didnt have the Wahl Deluxe kit |
i believe it's the kit i got last year from costco, replacing my previous one from before, it's a step up. |

Went into Costco Still Creek and saw it on sale for $49.99 Really good set for those looking Multiple heads 2 different sizes |
oh this might be better than mine then, i think mine only came with 1 shaver |
i shave my head and i've used different trimmers over the years. philips is great because if something goes wrong they just send you a new one no questions asked (in my experience). i think i even returned something after the warranty period was over and it was super easy. nowadays i use a wahl senior trimmer, it's basically barbershop grade and asides from the bulky cable, it works amazingly. if you're using it every week then i'd go for something like the wahl. if you're just trying to get through covid, then any cordless one is probably fine, but eventually like all cordless products the battery will crap out. |

Guess I can do hair by myself? GF doesn't even want to try FailFish :rukidding: |

Realistically you can cut your whole head, the back of your head just use a handheld mirror and use inverted controls. Pretty trippy |

Yeah I went to the barber's yesterday and had to wait. The first half hour went by, and I thought to myself "well I waited this long already I might as well stay, it won't be much longer anyway". 30 minutes became 1 hour and 1 hour became 2.5 hours LOL. They jacked up the price like crazy too. When you go in, there are literally dividers in between each person lol. In the end it was very worth it though. There was no way I'm letting anyone else touch my hair. |

I already lube the blades in the beginning before I start, but I think you're suggesting it needs to be continuously lubricated? |
where do you guys go to when you need your clipper/shaver blades sharpened? |
2000 grit, water and a flat surface |
