[QUOTE=trollface;8985457 They can go after the estate,[/QUOTE]
Don't want to go into it, but this can be a fucking mess. With him being so young, he may not have had a will or life insurance to distribute any assets. My guess is BMW might have to eat this in some form.
How do you clamp down? How do you stop someone from doing 160?
Ford has the MyKey system which lets you program certain settings such as: maximum speed, maximum radio volume, traction/stability control always on etc into the key that's used.
I think it is just more to let sales vet thru the people that can go on test drives alone... or just be more selective.... or... just make sure sales is on board on the test drive... though with the current social distancing, that is easier said then done...
I remember Brian Jessel pre-owned let me drive a BMW M2 home for the night for an extended test-drive, granted I put down a deposit on it with pre-approved credit.
Hyundai also called me when they first got their Palisade and asked if I wanted to take it home for a day to see how I like it, I vaguely remember I put my name down on one when I was chatting up the sales when they were first announced, I guess it also helps I brought 2 cars from the same Hyundai dealership before hand?

GM has the Teen Driver mode that has similar controls I believe through the infotainment system (haven't used it myself).
Most ppl are deff driving a car before plunking down 50-70k. We're not selling Enzos to Jeff Bezos here.
This stuff doesn't happen very often, "clamping down" seems like a huge overreaction imo. I'm sure the sales guys are going to be thrilled to have the M4 dumbed down to Valet mode when he's trying to make a sale.
Most dealer test drives I've been on are often granny'd. Get on the highway and it's like, "Okay, let's take the next exit" and you barely hit 100km/h haha
If you’re in sales, you gotta use your judgement. Who’s more likely to trash a car on a test drive: young punk coming in by himself, or a someone coming in with their parents?
My parents and I test drove a 2020 3-series alone. Of course it helps that we’ve purchased other cars from that dealership before too.

I ordered both my ST and RS without test drives. Sometimes you just know
Ford salesman tried to sell me a FiST that had high mileage (for a brand new car). I inquired about the mileage and he told me a customer took it home over night and came back, deciding he wanted a different colour.

RS isn't the best sampling of people who might buy a vehicle without testing it. Remember a large portion of the general population can only tell cars apart by the basic colour they are and buy something like an AMG or ///M because it's the most expensive so it must be better somehow (even though they never use more than 1/4 throttle while driving around 10 under the limit).

1. Openroad Audi Richmond - They said they don’t usually let people do test drives. It makes our car worth less by putting mileage on it. When I actually got a test drive, it was around the block without even going onto the highway.
2. Audi Downtown - Sales guy said do whatever I need. Just bring him back in one piece.

I bought from Audi Downtown.
Small minor detail but Richmond Audi is Cowell Auto Group unless you meant Audi Burnaby
I remember one time I was at Tsawwassen Mills an they had a KIA store/showroom there. I was just checking out the Stinger GT out of curiosity and the salesman just walked up to me and immediately asked if I could spare 15 mins.
Then convinced me to spare some time to go test drive the car. He then said unlike other brands, this car sells itself, so we don't really care about the mileage. LOL.
Honestly, I didn't have any intention to buy one... it's outside of my budget, but the test drive was an offer I couldn't refuse I guess. The guy told me to launch it off the line on the hwy and try some back roads.. lol

I bought a $65k Hyundai without testing it... but I already knew what I wanted when I went to buy it. I did test drive the Sonata before I bought that though, there's a lot of competition in that segment. Not so much in the NA V8 sedan segment, pretty much only the Charger and I ain't buying no Dodge.
