It's... It's... It's beautiful. :ahwow:

320icar 08-04-2020 09:01 PM

I’m confused, 70% of 340lb-ft at 2000rpm? So only 238lb-ft? My car makes more torque at that rpm. Unless I’ve totally misunderstood you OP

twitchyzero 08-04-2020 10:00 PM

i meant it's not peaky which is usually the hallmark of high-revving powerplants

equally perplexing is this is conventional manual trans and featherweight

it's almost as if they're building it not for image or bragging rights! mind bottling.

!LittleDragon 08-04-2020 10:14 PM

Looks like an updated F1, I like it... maybe not that Batmobile jet engine thing at the back

I just watched Harry's interview and it's amazing, too bad they are only making 100 so basically I'll never see one

This car will spend 0.01% of it's life at 2,000rpm, it's pretty much idling. I bet that curve is also flat AF since 70% is at 2,000 RPM. The power band from 2k to 6k is pretty much moot in this car when it revs to 12k.
You can prob just dump the clutch at idle and it would start moving like a automatic lol. It also weights as much as a fart.

Yes you have misunderstood. Watch the videos, especially the Carfection one. Gordon goes into detail why having huge power is not necessary and not the ethos of the car. Could he have opted for a larger powerplant, added turbos, added hybrid? Absolutely, but the car is all about light weight, high revving, FAST revving, pure driving experience. This ain't your run-of-the-mill hypercar.

Yeah, it's no longer about crazy paper specs like 0-60, or 1/4miles... It's all about the driving experience.

I'm surprised that no all of the 100 examples have been spoken for. (articles quoting somewhere around 75).

RS groupbuy?

i love all these supercar "theory" reveals, and then no actual car is ever made or tested

I "could" make 600k next year, but in reality il just be here on my couch

JD¹³ 08-05-2020 03:11 PM

I watched a couple of the videos of GM talking about the car and I found it really bizarre to be covering all the numbers and science behind a car designed explicitly for the driving feel and experience...... when he's never driven it! I'm sure they'll nail it but I was left feeling like it was all hype. It's all good to be hyper focused on every little detail but those details have to work together, and the only way to develop the feel of the car is to uhhhhhh drive it.

dark0821 08-05-2020 05:25 PM

First engine got delivered, mule will be on road mid month, actual prototype in OCT/NOV

1 thing i picked up is that it seems the engine gains/loses revs too fast in neutral, resulting it including an auto rev match for up and down shifts on the manual....

cant have everything I guess....

Or... you will just never get shift "right" without the automated rev match... maybe someone like alonso or hamilton can have a go at it if Gordon implements an off switch...

!LittleDragon 08-05-2020 10:40 PM

The F1 held the top speed record for 10 years with only 619hp but I don't think you can do that today without building a sledgehammer. I'm sure they're not chasing records with this car though.

Given the greatly reduced weight and increased power in the T50 it will be faster than the McLaren F1. 2509lbs to 2160lbs, and 619hp to 654hp. Gearing will be the determining factor. It'll probably hit the 400k mark but won't be toppling the Koenigsegg or Veyron because like you said.... sledgehammers.

Big fan of the purpose built and simplistic interior. Completely opposite theory of gawdy fashion shows like Pagani's. Looking forward to hearing that V12 screaming under load.

Having been to the Pagani factory they are absolutely exquisite works of art... they’re far from gaudy fashion shows... the dash being precisely polished into individual scales of 3/4 circles and all the switch gear and custom bits... it’s literally artwork in person.

I appreciate the simplicity and purposefulness of this car too, but the Pagani is hardly gaudy in any way!

twitchyzero 08-07-2020 01:01 PM

Murray is probably the first person I’ve heard complaining about a meaty steering wheel

if it’s not a classic woodgrain I want it nice and thicc

the side info screens should also be wider and molded into the dash

dark0821 08-07-2020 04:58 PM

^

lol... but... to a guy that tell his drivers to take off their watch while driving because it affects the steering... everything is rotational mass to him lolol....

Im not suprised it is hollow CF with just some thin fabric at the grip points lolol...

T.50 by Gordon Murray

Gordon Murray introduces the T.50.

You get a good look at the V12 engine as well as the car exterior and interior.

Murray said “There are no touch screens. I hate them in a performance car.”

Taking 125kg from an already light car is fucking insane. Goddamn i wanna hear this thing at WOT

twitchyzero 02-23-2021 07:55 PM

when will they actually release and not just a 1:1 model without a powertrain?

Mr.Money 02-26-2021 06:16 PM

see how the final product is.

never know how the durable the drivetrain is from fast driving.

ahem f40 clutch replacement cause OEM isn't very strong.
