I think any and all appliance stores will have some amount of scratch and dent appliances, so you'll have to (unfortunately) hunt around.

Trail appliances clearance centre on Annacis island is a good place for dented/scratched appliances.

I ended up getting a Garland/Bluestar. Holy shit this mofo is heavy. Probably pushing like 500lbs lol. Now just gotta wait for the gas line to get routed.

Come on dude. You know I'm not dropping that kind of coin on a stove. I could buy so many Civics with that much dough lol

Just got lucky and found a rich mofo, that barely cooks, trying to keep up with the Jones'. You know the type that re-does their kitchen every 5 years.

What else were they selling?

Seems like range prices have jumped 10% across the board in the new year. Y tho

Would guess new or reinstated tariffs.

There's been an uptick in demand for appliances all-round, and the COVID situation has impacted availability and scale up of skilled labour and resources. Back in October of 2020, the sales team at one of the major appliance stores in Toronto said current backlog for just parts from LG coming from South Korea is 4 months minimum wait time. :heckno:

Random appliance question, but curious what ppls takes are on Black stainless vs Stainless steel?

There's a fridge we're looking at that has both, and while we like the Black stainless, I am worried it might limit our future ability to match other appliances with the same color.

Are there examples of mixed color appliances between stainless/black stainless, and how does it look?

bcrdukes 02-05-2021 12:54 PM

There are some funky colours coming out to the market but usually on niche or more baller brands. I did see Black stainless steel for I think it was Samsung (I could be wrong.) I think you should be okay for a fridge but also have to consider your overall design aesthetic. I mean, imagine having a pink or baby blue fridge and the whole room is like dark gothic. Got some clash there. lol

Edit (Sorry, hit submit prematurely) - What I wanted to say was there was a house where I saw a stainless steel black fridge and the dishwasher was regular stainless steel and the range was black. The dishwasher stood out big time but I think it would really bother one of you let it bother you and sat there and stared at it all day.

sonick 02-05-2021 12:58 PM

Nah if anything we'll stick with the stainless steel not any other funky color. Just wondering if having a mix of black stainless vs standard stainless would look weird.

gilly 02-09-2021 11:38 AM

I personally wouldn't go mix and match. Havnt seen many sample photos of kitchens with different colour appliances.

Hondaracer 02-09-2021 12:33 PM

Imo the look wouldn’t be as jarring if the black stainless is grouped.

Ie. you’ve got a black stainless fridge and dish on the same wall but the range is regular stainless on a different wall/island. What really catches the eye is when things are side by side and different

My parents wall oven has called it quits and they've been shopping for a new one. It's been a struggle because of covid shipping delays. Stock is limited and a lot of it is back ordered or requires a special order.

Most likely they'll go with a Miele, but that's partially due to the fact they can get one without a 8 - 12 week wait.

Just a heads up for anyone if you think you might need appliances soon.

roastpuff 05-31-2021 10:00 AM

Yep, as I posted over in the real estate thread we just got a place and are doing a full kitchen remodel. Our Bosch appliances were on a 3-4 month backorder... we're supposed to have them delivered end of June so fingers crossed for that.

If we went GE it would be worse, end of the year they say.
