Speaking of electric scooters...

Can someone please tell me if the next time a FanTuan scooter rider almost plows into my partner and I on the sidewalk, would I be in the wrong to cuss the kid out?

Half of them fiddle with their phones while they're ON THE SIDEWALK scooting down at 45km/hr.

Out where I am (Toronto) at minimum, it's BMW and Mercedes. Common to see some M cars, AMGs, Tesla of all varieties (very common) a few Porsche Macan and Cayennes. Did see a few Lexus, and Acura. The most interesting one was a G63 AMG. Have yet to see something more "normal" like a Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic.

It's the modern version of the Motocompo! I saw it for the first time in the anime, "You're Under Arrest!". It was designed to be small enough to fit in a couple Honda sub-compacts

Kind of off topic, but I thought it wasn't legal to have these motorized scooters or any offshoot of these on sidewalks?

I think it'd be fun and convenient having an electric scooter to putter about the block or down to the supermarket, but we need some sort of plan to implement them safely I think.

It reminds me of a cassette player with half the casing missing or something. Like a minimalist one that just clips onto the cassette.

Technically the FanTuan scooter is operating illegally. It doesn't fit into the "motor assist cycle" category. Seems to fit more into the "limited speed motorcycle" category. In which case its no different than a 50cc gas powered scooter. Needs to be registered, licensed and insured to operate on public roads.

I've seen 1 or 2 of those electric scooters from FanTuan (looks like a copy of the Yamaha Vino) around UBC/Kits.
