Bad seals don't make the car not start. If they were leaking, you'd smell the gas long before something like that happens. If the engine has air, fuel and spark, it will run.

This certainly is not the norm (even E15 is pretty rare), obviously, but unless your engine is Flex Fuel rated, using anything in excess of E10 may void your warranty and/or cause damage.
Pretty much all vehicles manufactured in the '90s and '00s are designed for E10. Most vehicles that are 2012 or newer are designed to handle E15. Most vehicles in the 1980s and pretty much all vehicles prior to the mid-80s were not designed for any level of ethanol.
Ontario is requiring an average of 10% ethanol content starting this year, so my guess would be that those offering ethanol-free premium fuels country-wide (like Shell) will need to increase their ethanol content in their regular and mid-grade fuels. https://www.ontario.ca/page/greener-gasoline Quote:
Starting in 2020, fuel suppliers must maintain at least an annual average of 10% renewable content (such as ethanol) in the gasoline they sell in Ontario.

That's why I asked what he was gassing up. It's a solvent, it'll probably take a very long time to cause a problem in a modern car. I don't want to take a chance on any of my carburated yard equipment. It also doesn't mix well with oil for 2 strokes.

In any modern family car I wouldn't worry too much with E10 fuel.

On page 664 of the owners manual it says you can use 87 octane with up to 15% ethanol. Are you looking for no ethanol because you think the gas will become old due to being in electric mode most of the time?

Gas will be fine for 2 to 3 months. If you are really worried about old gas just don't fill up the tank all the way.

My i3 has this feature where if I don't use the REX motor, it will kick on for about 10 minutes.
