Supercar Rally Crash Today?

I heard rumours the Hubolt rally up to Whistler was today and a Lambo hit a van full of kids? Looks like the whole highway was shut down today.

Any details?

**edit...removed because it's all rumor currently.

***edit, added newslink.

That looks like the same Lambo DDE test drove at Lamborghini Vancouver just the other day. If someone can confirm it had an Alberta plate on it.

Manic! 09-05-2020 11:29 PM

Same car in this video?

Zedbra 09-06-2020 06:09 AM

I was stuck in the traffic trying to get home from Whistler for several hours, I feel for the father and children that needed to be heli-jetted to VGH. Lots of rumours flying around town but from witnesses that I spoke to on-scene: there was speeding, racing another super car, filming, and one car trying to flee the scene; regular rally fucktard behaviour every year.

From what I have read a Range Rover and Huracsn were racing, sideswiped one another and then careened into a vehicle with a family of 5. Medivac had to come in for people from the latter car.

Range Rover supposedly ran and tried to hide. Highway was closed both ways for many many hours.

I hope the people that was in the bystander's car is okay. Nothing can prepare you to have a huracan coming over the medium and stricking you.

Terrible news for the family and kids. Throw the book at the Lambo and Land Rover drivers.

As much as the diamond rally is for a good cause, something either needs to be done by the organizers to stop behaviour like this before it starts or there’s no way it can continue. People use the guise of it being a charity event to excuse terrible decision making and disregard for the regular public on the road. I sure hope the people that were hit end up ok. I’m sure a lot of the people that were involved in the event are just appalled that this happened.

dared3vil0 09-06-2020 08:14 AM

I think that's the new DDE Huracan.

bcrdukes 09-06-2020 08:20 AM

These rallies need to be held at a more controlled environment, like, I don't know, at a designated track, and not on public roads. There are a few charity events similar to this in Toronto where public streets are closed off with a lot of police presence, or the entire event takes place at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, and is generally restricted to the public.

I can imagine this sort of thing can only lead to a slap on the wrist, and VIs issued very every other 90s Civic with a broken muffler.

Hoping for the best and speedy recovery to those hurt as a result of the reckless behavior.

320icar 09-06-2020 08:23 AM

Devils advocate here: they rent out pemberton airport and do drag racing in a controlled environment, and out of 200 cars 99% of them behave perfectly fine on the street for the drive up.

But that leaves the 1% left and shit happens as seen here. I was stuck in pemberton and had to take the Duffy loop back. I think this will probably be the last year of the event. Every long weekend some shit happens on the s2s and something has to be done

They start the rally itself in Vancouver though, I'm sure the group/herd mentality makes people more likely to act like idiots than if they drove up separately unorganized.

Also this was yet another police escorted 'event':

320icar 09-06-2020 09:00 AM

I’m well aware of how the event starts. And unfortunately everyone knows how this event ended.

I drive the s2s maybe once a year. Fucking hate that highway. Always closed down for massive accidents whether idiot vacation drivers, motoGP superstars running from the cops or rented Lambos crashing

shiesty 09-06-2020 09:22 AM

Hopefully everybody will make it out of this accident alive, it'll be interesting to see how the insurance company will figure this one out. Alberta plates: lower insurance premiums, no luxury tax, no pst, etc. Its all good until something catastrophic like this happens

shabusen 09-06-2020 09:30 AM

Surprised no video of this has appeared yet.

SkunkWorks 09-06-2020 10:10 AM

Silence from the DR organizers is deafening.

What a shitshow.

I think if there were, it's best to keep it out of the public eye.

Asssuming what we're hearing is correct, if they EVER want to do any kind of "cruising-on-public-road" events.

Absolutely not condoning any of this behavior, it's incredibly unfortunate that with high powered cars, comes high powered idiocy

twitchyzero 09-06-2020 11:16 AM

read someone in gridlock went into labour

this is why i try to avoid s2s during weekend peak hours

westopher 09-06-2020 12:19 PM

In case you go into labour?:smug:

TouringTeg 09-06-2020 12:23 PM

That would explain why someone in the traffic jam needed medical attention.

Posts are being deleted on Hublot Diamond Rally IG and people are posting all kinds of hate towards the organizers and participants.

Supercar Rally Crash Today?

I hope that the cops throw the book at the Huracan and Range Rover drivers for seriously injuring that other driver and passengers from their racing.

Another example of “do stupid things, win stupid prizes.”

This is the damage that the driver of the Huracan did to the Toyota.

The CBC article says charges are being considered against the driver of the Range Rover but it doesn’t mention anything about the driver of the Lamborghini.

Edit: Newer CBC article says charges are being considered against both drivers.

The Hublot Vancouver IG page and their other drivers continued to wine & dine at Whistler after the crash.

Great PR/Marketing for Lambo Vancouver and Hublot Vancouver!
