Forest Fires in North America 2020

This summer’s forest fire season in BC and all American west coast states is devastating.

-saw pictures on Twitter of orange and red skies with falling ashes in California and Oregon.

BC Provincial website stats on wildfires:

31 active fires. 6 wildfires in the past 2 days.

This is a GPS map that shows numerous forest fires happening now:

Picture of San Francisco on September 9th:

A picture of a downtown area in Oregon in Sept 9th at 12:22pm. The sky in many parts of Oregon looks like planet Mars now.

Fake news, must be the Russians or China who set the fires

Yeah, I find it strange too that our BC wildfire season this year doesn't seem all that severe. And yet the US westcoast is literally burning up from CA through OR and all the way up to WA.

A friend of mine in California has her house totally burnt down, lost all of their belongings except for what they can fit into 2 vehicles. It's uncertain what lies ahead for her and her family.

California is fucked..unless you’re in Laguna Beach or somthing it seems like it’s the definition of a fucking nightmare with all the traffic, fires etc.

Was reading an article saying that basically these massive, devastating, California fires have not stopped since 2017. As in, shit has been burining non-stop for over 3 years

All the tropical high pressure systems coming from the southwest in June, July, and even into August ended up missing us to the south and we ended up getting mild temperatures and rain instead.

And then you have dumb fucks that light shit on fire for a gender reveal and causes a fire to break out. I think it's reaching over 10,000 acres now from that gender reveal in SoCal.

I don't believe there was even a camp fire ban this summer. It still seemed too dry to have one, so I didn't risk it on my recent vacations.

Nope, no campfire ban. Second year in a row for the coastal region assuming they don't implement one this month.

2 years ago it was just as orange as those shots of San Fran when I drove through Princeton, this year has been great around here. Lots of late rain in the spring and a cool summer where I could actually do stuff outside without dying.

These fires are shitty either way but at least they're happening quite late in the season. The years where it's like this in June are brutal.

Waking up and stepping outside in this smog reminds me of the familiar smells of stepping off a plane in s.e.Asia.

The only reason why we had a campfire ban was because of Covid, which I found straight up stupid. We haven't had a campfire ban of the past two summers.
