Epoxy Floor Installer recommendations

Hey Revscene,

I'm looking for referrals/ recommendations from anyone that knows of any good Epoxy floor installers. Looking to have the job done on a two car garage in a residential area.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

(I apologize in advance if this was posted in the wrong spot.)

I'm interested in this as well.

I've been looking into this for when our place is done and from calling a few places, they all seem to recommend polyaspartic flooring instead. With my suspicions that this may just be a cash grab, some research seems to show that this is a better option for residential as it's much quicker install, more flexible (won't crack as floors settle), and doesn't yellow over time as i'm told that the epoxy coatings do (due to UV) as some of the main benefits. It's pricier but seems worth it in the long-run. Epoxy seems to be more used for commercial applications from what I've read/been told.

Best pricing I've found I've got so far is from Boss Coatings and a friend was referred to them as well which is good but no firsthand experience yet. This is for Surrey/Langley area as well, not sure how large these guys trade area is with all the new builds happening out this way.

Edit: Prices ranged from $5.50 /sqft to $6.50 /sqft with no real explanation on the price difference. All came with a 10 or 15 year warranty as well so longevity isn't too much of a concern.

I believe it’s all in the prep (you really need to grind the surface). Check for moisture. After that It’s completely DiY’able. This coming from a guy who hasn’t done it. Lol.

I just sold a trailer hitch to a guy who runs a flooring company. I picked his brain for a while and he completely agreed (well we didn’t talk about diy but I got details on his process). Haha

My dad did his own about 5 years ago and its held up fine. Chatting with someone else, theirs started to peel up a bit where warm tires would be sitting not too long after installing. The removal process if it got screwed up scares me as that looks like a real pain in the ass, thats why I'm opting for someone else to do it.

I had my two car garage done a few months ago by First Choice Epoxy. They ground the concrete down so it was completely flat. Three people, 8 hours and it was done. I also had them go up the sides as my concrete foundation was that high.

Its been a few months and its held up great.

Jesus, $6 a sq ft.. I’m in the wrong business.

Honestly this is a very basic DIY and any tools you could possibly need like a dustless grinder etc. Can be rent for cheap

For those that have the epoxy/polyaspartic coating, how slippery is it? Primary concern is making sure the toddler isn't going to slip easily on those wet days.

Another Clever Quarters customer here. Had them do my two car garage approximately a year ago. No problems so far with hot tires, sun fade, and DIY vehicle maintenance. Floor looks just as new as it did when I first had it done.

For those looking at Zone Garage, they charge quite a premium for certain coloured flakes. I ended up going with Clever Quarters since they were the cheapest, and didn't charge extra for the colour I wanted.

Premium for coloured confetti should be a red flag.. lol

Anyone ever looked at the permeable rock surfaces? My former boss had his garages done in it. It’s pretty cool oil etc. Will never stain as it goes beneath the surface. Very easy to clean can pressure wash etc. Can even do logos and whatnot in the rock patterns

I'm getting mine done tomorrow by Zone Garage. They had to order me the flake I wanted but I didn't want to wait two more weeks so I just picked something he had in stock. I'll let you know how it goes

had zone garage do some shelving in my garage. No complaints and done in a timely manner.
had expoxy floors in my previous house but now have SWISSTRAX RIBTRAX
I like the RIBTRAX more because all the dirt/sand/water fall into the cracks and i just vacuum the floor annually and always stays clean.

Since this thread has been resurrected, I'll share a few thoughts on Zone Garage.

I got the garage done earlier this year by Zone Garage. The end result was excellent and the guy did a great job, enough so that it generated a few referrals from my neighbors and nearby friends.

One of my neighbors that showed interest wanted the work done for their pool deck and asked if there was a non-slip version which the contractor said there is. The scope of the job required a couple of days of work, so they decided to head out of town while the crew worked on their pool.

You can probably guess what happened next. The pool deck was covered will the same slippery top coat as my garage, there were sharp edges on random spots on the deck, and parts of the deck had more clear finish than other spots which made it even more slippery than other areas. Effectively this made the pool unusable given all these hazards, and you can imagine how upset my neighbors were when they came back to this.

I'm not sure what their next steps are at this point, and I don't want to insert myself into this by asking.
