Peace Portal’s par 3 used to have the thickest, most playable grass but it’s gone downhill a bit too. Haven’t played it since the new owners took over and hope they can restore it to its former glory. At its peak you’d get a decent lie 90% of the time if you missed the green. Now I’d say it’s 60-70% time at best. PP Par 3 is also a good challenge because there are a few holes where you can’t take a full swing because of the trees overhead. My 56 is good for 100 yards normally and the 2nd hole is like 95 downhill. I have to hit a knockdown PW at like 75% but the greens are so receptive that it’ll stick. It’s good practice and my wife enjoys it as she’s just getting into golf. Peace Portal’s full size course is now called The Hills at Portal Golf Club under its new ownership. They’ve made some changes including making the front 9 the back as well as changing the lower mainland’s most ridiculous par 4 into a par 5, which it should have been in the first place. 495 from the blues and 461 from the whites with an uphill tee shot to a dog leg right. It was always a 3 shot hole to make the green for me so I’m glad they’ve changed it. It looks like they’ve shortened the original first hole (now the 10th) to make it a par 4 instead of a 5. I’ll go check it out soon and see what else they’ve done. /thread highjack |
If that's the new set that they're carrying it's a steal! I played my first 18 hole today and the peeps I was playing with recommended northlands as well. |

I would save Northlands until you get a little better. It's a great track. Kudos to the guys who walk it... I can't imagine walking Northlands. |
Onions are back!!! At least Bellingham Costco. Not the little cups. Texas size cups with lids. Good amount to cover the entire hot dog. |
Damn....... US Costco hot dogs are not as good as the ones here. The buns are smaller and not as nice as the ones up here. Cheaper, too (exchange rate). I've mentioned this before. Not many things are cheaper in the US. One thing that's cheaper, hands down, is ice. 10 lb bag of ice is like $2.99 USD. Bumping this thread, because................... Bored waiting for Jays game to start. Mookie! |
Oh yeah............. forgot. McDonald's fountain drinks are no longer $1.00 in the US. Plus, their drinks suck. Diet Coke down there tastes like piss. What I imagine piss tastes like, hee hee. Their food also gives me the runs. Doesn't matter if it's McDonald's, Bugger King, Taco Time, etc. Funny thing is, I'm okay with Sonic and of all places, Jack in her Box. |
I noticed that too. Now that I'm down there regularly I've started looking to see if I can get deals on stuff I need and most of the time it's more expensive in the US. Harbor Freight stuff is way more than the Princess Auto equivalent which surprised me. |

Just got back from weekly trip to Bellingham. Cot Dam........... did I ever fuck up on the price of ice. It's not 10 lbs, but 20 lbs!!!!! And, it's not $2.99. It's $2.79, gulolol. Works out to 0.140 / lb. USD. Also, no rice cooker. All gone. |
i usually only buy ice from the gas station (every once in a blue moon when im making slushies or something). 20lbs of ice is wayyy too bulky and annoying to store. |
sounds like you guys just need a bigger freezer lol |
I've got 5 freezers. Inherited them from relatives and whatnot (good freezers outlive most people). Still want frozen wild caught sockeye salmon, murd0c? They must be like15 years old by now. Still good for something. Flash Frozen at Sea. Whole............ the only way to freeze 'em. Crab Bait? Mink Feed? Anyway, Em Gee Juan out! Gotta go to laundromat. |
If any of you are looking for a decent pair of affordable over-the-ear headphones. Costco is going to have a $150 off deal on a pair of Sony WH1000XM4/B https://electronics.sony.com/audio/h.../p/wh1000xm4-b Sale starts in August, but if you are interested, get them now while they're in stock and get price adjustment later. The cans are not their flagship bluetooth model, the XM5, but who has $499.00? Bluetooth technology has come a long way. Impressive specs. If you're a purist, they can be plugged in. Best of both worlds. I recently purchased a pair of Limited Edition Audio Technica headphones, so not really interested. If I had known about this upcoming sale, I would jump at it. |

It'll be $247.99 after the $150.00 off. Still a very good price. Too bad the Sony headphones don't come with AptX or AptX Adaptive Codecs. |
I was considering the SM4 for home use / airplane. Would it cancel 99% of the noise of an airplane? Currently using airpods that are like $300 but they're ok for their size |
I purposely use them for travelling and they do a wayyy better job of canceling out noise than even the air pod max. Try it ! If you don’t like go return to Costco years later as they don’t count headphones as electronics. |

I bought both the XM5 and XM4 and returned the XM5. The XM4's are great, would absolutely recommend. The XM4 earbuds are also incredible for NC, but they are on the beefier side. |
