i heard sony panels are made by samsung or LG so youre ultimately getting a korean product regardless.

Hondaracer 11-10-2023 09:15 AM

The QD OLED panels are made by Samsung

However, it’s always been Sony’s reputation that they use higher quality internal components compared to the manufacturers which share the panel, and imo I’ve always believed it whether it’s upscaling lower quality content etc. the Sony seems to always look better

Reviews and tests seem to back up that as well. Samsung has a QD OLED which, in theory should he almost exactly the same as the 95k but the Sony tops the Samsung in every single measurable metric

Honda, you could check if any London Drugs has this BNIB if you don't mind mini LED.

Sony BRAVIA XR X95K 65-in Mini LED 4K UHD Smart TV with Google TV - XR65X95K

https://www.londondrugs.com/sony-bra...on-televisions

People on RFD are finding BNIB ones even though the pricing is for open box/display model. Might have to call around.

$1499 is a great price.

Hondaracer 11-10-2023 05:31 PM

Cool thanks I’m gonna drive around a bit tom and check out different stores I’ll try and hit up any LD I see as well

Visions came out with their Black Friday deal, selling the G3 for $3000 with a free 2 year warranty now.. so that makes it more tempting

radeonboy 11-10-2023 08:13 PM

^I would try calling first before driving around to see if the unit is new or actually open box. On their website, you can also add one to cart for in-store pickup, then go to your cart page to see how many units are available at each store.

Fuck I’ll give BB credit.. so no one has the A95K anymore so that wasn’t an option

Walked into BB and the LG rep was there, said I’m looking at the G3 but visions is a lower price and they are offering a free 2 year warranty

Best Buy beat the price by $200 and gave me a free 4 year geeksquad warranty.. ($599 value)

So the total for the TV priced at $3098 came to $3200 taxes in, not bad

MarkyMark 11-11-2023 11:00 AM

What does the warranty actually cover gotta read the find print. I remember when I bought my OLED from visions years ago the guy was trying to sell me on the warranty and I kept saying no and then he started showing me pictures of what burn in looks like and then I pointed out their warranty doesn't even cover burn in and he shut up pretty quick.

Hondaracer 11-11-2023 11:07 AM

As Razor said on the last page I believe, BB is the only warranty that covers burn in

Badhobz 11-11-2023 12:13 PM

How’s the new TV mang ? You watch porno on it yet ? I find 8k porno too extreme.

Hondaracer 11-11-2023 12:43 PM

In typical BB style gotta pick it up tom from Langley so don’t have it yet.. also ordered all new hdmi and optical so I’ve got a bit of work but should be up and running tom, pretty pumped especially for next weeks F1

Badhobz 11-11-2023 01:44 PM

You still using optical? Older AV receiver I take it? When I redid my Home Theatre even five years ago, everything was being passed over HDMI.

Optical doesn't pass lossless codecs either like TrueHD and DTS-HD

Hondaracer 11-12-2023 05:30 PM

I do it for that reason and also that my current soundbar setup doesn’t have a decent pass-through so I only use optical out and HDMI for components

TV is pretty crazy out of the box and it’s the best image I’ve seen period out of the PS5, the 4k@120hz is incredible. I think there are some settings to be adjusted for just regular cable but it’s still likely the best TV I’ve seen

Obviously pictures of a tv will never do it justice

Badhobz 11-12-2023 06:28 PM

looks good! nice and clean too, no external wires hanging around

Hondaracer 11-12-2023 06:31 PM

I’d post more but then you’d see my white power flags

Badhobz 11-12-2023 06:37 PM

Ah no worries I also have white power flags in my house

mikemhg 11-13-2023 09:26 AM

Me too

twitchyzero 11-13-2023 09:36 AM

wow the review has the a95L still making big improvements over last year

hope i can get into a new TV when MLA and QD matures a bit more..my current one is decade-old tech

Hondaracer 11-13-2023 10:08 AM

Yea wasn’t balling enough for A95L, touching 6k for the 65 after taxes but it’s pretty clearly the best TV out there right now

MarkyMark 11-13-2023 12:27 PM

If you're dropping 6k on a tv these days it better be at least 77" the Sony tax ain't worth that much.

SSM_DC5 11-13-2023 12:32 PM

How are projectors these days? Are they comparable?

punkwax 11-13-2023 12:37 PM

Our new kitten just headbutt my older Sony and must’ve hit the perfect spot because now it seems I’m in the market for a new tv. 90% of the screen is crazy dim. Fml

Qmx323 11-13-2023 12:40 PM

Slap it.

The TV, not the kitten.

Badhobz 11-13-2023 12:41 PM

Get a dog instead. Less ninja skills.
