They really need to implement a max. item count for the self-checkouts.

I agree! Save it for us non-cart users lol

Somehow I doubt that will work well at a place like Costco....

It's not self-checkout anymore, but I like how Richmond has checkout staff at each self-serve station to minimize downtime. They scan way faster than customers and can fix issues right away if an error occurs compared to a place like Willingdon.

If you have a tonne of items I don’t even know why you’d want to subject yourself to the self checkout anyways

lilaznviper 05-13-2024 11:14 AM

the line moves faster with self checkout since others have less items im guessing.

Are you serious. Are you one of those psycho's that doesn't use a cart???

Who goes to costco and plans to buy one one or two items? Like, what's the point?

That being said, my son loves that vera vera sourdough bread, so I've gone to costco simply for that bread, but I end up getting other stuff.

Hondaracer 05-13-2024 11:58 AM

Anytime I’ve ever walked in thinking I don’t need a cart, before the 3rd aisle I’m back outside getting a cart lol

Badhobz 05-13-2024 03:03 PM

I can’t seem to be able to walk out of Costco without spending less than 300 dollars…. Too much crap I just randomly pick up

I find that unless the regular line up is at least twice (even triple) as long as the self checkout line that it's faster just to stay in the regular line - the regular line has more tills and they can scan 3-4x faster than the self-checkout does so the line ends up moving faster. 20 items in self checkout takes as long as 60-80 items in the regular line.

murd0c 05-13-2024 03:29 PM

I do all the time as well, it also helps I work 10mins from Costco and I go on my lunch lol

Rotisserie chicken and smoked salmon in one hand, 2 vitamins and ice cream in my left hand, bag of rice or box of instant noodles over my shoulder. In and out in less than 10 minutes!

:fulloffuck:, exactly!

I was already commited to the line, it turned a corner so i couldnt see the extent of the people at the front. When I finally saw, people had carts overflowing with items. And after scanning they put things at the bagging area, but then they actually run out of room there while still having items in their cart. Then they start putting things on the floor after scanning them and once the cart is empty and they pay, they have to restack everything back into the cart. :sleepingzz:

The worst is when the line up to even join the regular line ups stretch to the back raw food area lol. But if you see at the front, its because the first ones in line just go the the register directly ahead, and no one else can move into the middle ones.

Im in tacoma till Wednesday for work and I went to the Costco here.

Man they ripping Canadians off

Chicken and shrimp are both 1/2 of what we are paying for. Inflation my ass, life is so much more affordable in the USA vs Canada.

Yeah yeah exchange rate and all that but still. If I made American dollars it’s literally half the price

A cart? Only one? We need to travel 1.25 hrs to Costco so our family of four, with two teenagers, fills the better part of two carts almost every time now.

But you balance out the ridiculous spending with some $1.50 hotdogs and drinks, and call the trip a win.

The chickens are US Costco are absolutely massive compared to ours as well!

Badhobz 05-13-2024 06:10 PM

I already had dinner at a Korean place but I still couldn’t resist taking a bite of their cheese pizza. Man this slice had like 3lbs of cheese on it. Canadian costco pizza sucks in comparison
