I saw the high fat/sugar warning label and thought, "Is this a challenge?"

So, I'm in Taiwan right now and just visited Costco today as I was helping parents to grab some supplies.

https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a78650a5_b.jpg

Tried pretty much everything that are not available in Canada/US.
The baked rolls were ok. But too much dough.
Chicken was good, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get them.
The okonomiyaki pizza was meh.
Fish sandwich was also good. Need more sauce though.

The spotlight was at the far end of the picture.
We need to petition to Costco to bring the Hokkaido Ice Cream. Damn that thing is crazy good. Creamy and with just the right amount of sweetness/caramel flavor.

I grabbed one when I went in as I munch through the items while my folks shop. Had to get another one after checked out because it was so good.

The best thing I had at taiwan's costco was their chicken salad.

They called it a caesar salad but it was nothing like I've ever had. Best thing there for me by far.

Why is it all Japanese items at Taiwan Costco?

GLOW 07-01-2024 08:49 AM

doesn't tw and jpn have a relationship dating back to ww2?
i recall an old coworker telling me this, and that his grandmother knows how to speak japanese as well.

bcrdukes 07-01-2024 10:05 AM

Lots of Japanese influence in Taiwan due to the occupation from Japan.

Where my aunt and uncle live in Chiayi, lots of Japanese people there for business, and lots of homes/shops in Japanese style with both Chinese and Japanese characters. My uncle there speaks and reads Japanese fluently. Lots of similarities between Taiwan and Japan.

CivicBlues 07-01-2024 09:35 PM

Also of note, Japan occupied Taiwan since 1895 and ended in WWII for obvious reasons

radeonboy 07-01-2024 10:38 PM

Speaking of Japan and Costco, did anyone order this?

Japanese Beef Wagyu A5 Tenderloin 4.6 kg (10.2 lb) - $999

acrophobia 07-02-2024 05:39 PM

Found a friend of a friend in Wenatchee that was able to score me one of these: https://www.costco.com/giant-ground-...000256751.html

Now for a 7 hour round trip drive to go get it :woot2:

So bought this igloo cooler last year, seemed like an amazing deal for the type and size of a cooler.. since purchase it’s been out of the house a total of 2 times and it was carried 95% of the time. When it was rolled it was either inside on interior surfaces or smooth pavement..

What holds the wheels on…

lol so what like every single one of these sold broke?

I emailed igloo saying either send me an entire replacement or it goes back to Costco, you decide. Not gonna fuck around looking for a receipt, not gonna try and repair it, stand by your product or don’t.

Hondaracer 07-08-2024 02:25 PM

double post

PeanutButter 07-08-2024 02:46 PM

Surprised you don't just go back to Costco regardless. Why waste your time. Let Costco advocate for you.

So I’ve actually had some decent success getting an “upgrade” with this approach, whether it be an upgrade or a completely new item to keep for parts etc.

However, given the size of igloo I’d be surpsied if I even get a response. And if nothing comes by the time I go to Costco next it will be going back.

Post is moreso how shit a product can be.. like a cotter pin which probably costs the same would have lasted forever as opposed to a crimped aluminum cap.. nice design..

PeanutButter 07-08-2024 02:59 PM

Ahh never thought of that. Might have to consider doing that next time.
It's probably just aesthetic reasons. Sometimes form is greater than function.

murd0c 07-08-2024 03:07 PM

you should also send them the receipt showing when you bought it at Costco (all receipts are saved online) proving you are not trying to screw them.

bcrdukes 07-08-2024 03:58 PM

Badhobz will return it for you.
inb4 he writes an angry old man rant about how you failed Costco members

That’s the beauty of all these types of items. The vast majority are specific models made FOR Costco, their TV’s are always like this where they know by the model number it was sold at Costco.

In most cases when I’ve dealt with these issues, for my hood fan, for a computer chair, etc. they didn’t even ask for proof of purchase, they just honored it knowing it would be returned otherwise

Badhobz 07-08-2024 09:14 PM

Pssshhh typical modern white guy “morality”

Your ancestors would be appalled. Where is the small pox blanket giving, opium war fighting, residential school enforcing ruthlessness?!?!?

Weak. Get your money back. Do the right thing. It’s what capitalism is built on.

They want your satisfaction ! Give it to them.

unit 07-09-2024 07:28 AM

would you even want an upgrade tho? usually when i buy something like this the size is one of the most important attributes. if they sent me a big chest cooler that's twice as heavy then that's prob something i would never use.

Badhobz 07-09-2024 07:37 AM

that is something a vegan lesbian subaru driver would say.

unit 07-09-2024 08:28 AM

vegan lesbian subaru driver would strap that shit to their roof basket and head to trader joes to load up on frozen meat substitutes.

^The nigiri tray is my favorite.

But make sure you check the package date - with the California rolls I noticed package times anywhere from a few hours ago to morning the day before. I made the mistake of getting the previous day's sushi and the rice was hard.

Hondaracer 08-13-2024 12:40 PM

People were all bitching about the price of the sushi it’s like have you ever been to an actual sushi resty? Lol

Seems like a pretty great deal given the amount of fish and overall quantity you get. I’m sure it’s better than many of the typical Korean sushi places

CivicBlues 08-13-2024 01:15 PM

Seeing Atlantic Salmon Nigiri here makes me sad. But Red Tuna? wtf Costco?
