6X6 was too rich and too risky
Good for Markstrom, took him a long time to get where he is and to risk taking 4X5 or somthing with less overall money from the Canucks isnt doing you much good for your family in the big picture, could have been a 10 mil difference over the term of the contract.

Yea, definitely dont like that... It's buyout proof. Doesnt say on there, but I believe there's a full NMC for all 6 years. Good for him, but not good for the team.
It's like they're saying... go ahead, Seattle. Pay for him if you want.
Holtby turned down a better offer from Oilers. Ian Clark was a big reason to come here.
GMJB made offer to Tanev. He'll decide by tomorrow morning.
GMJB says he will circle back to Toffoli if he can offload money (good luck, buddy)

Good on Benning not doing that. I think he learned from the Vegas expansion and not be exposed.
If we signed Markstrom, we could easily face a pittsburgh scenario with Fleury/Murray issue.
Krug signed with Blues so AP might be going somewhere else now?
It would be sick if we can move some money out and sign AP.

This one's gonna hurt us... not only because he was so good on defence, but it also means JB will likely go all-in on Tyson Barrie.
On the other hand, I don't think Flames are going to get what they think they're going to get. He had a good season without any injuries because he played with Hughes, and Hughes' possession time was through the roof. He was getting stapled to the boards a lot less compared to the prior years.

Both contracts are 2 years too long, but I’d rather have bad contracts for good players than bad contracts for mediocre/bad players. Too bad we already have too many of the latter to afford the former.
