F150 blend door

Been quite sometime since a post was in here but oh well, heres goes it.

2010 f150 dual climate control. Drivers side blend door bit the dust and stuck on cold air. Took it over to Ford and they want 1500$ to repair a 60$ part that sits buried deep behind the radio. The guy at the counter said it takes daily about 8 hours, one that you can do on your own from watching YouTube. Its just extremely time consuming.

I asked a co-worker about it because he had his done earlier this year. His was the passenger side which is apparently extremely easy to do. I asked one of the mechanics at work and his initial reply was to ask me drivers or passenger side. Gave him a one word reply, drivers, and he just let out a small sigh saying you poor bastard.

Anyone have experience ripping it out and care to give some tips? Every video I watch has different pros and cons to the methods they use so I'd like to see of anyone here has some advice.
