It's big, but if you've never looked under one you would see there is a shit load of room to throw in any modern suspension you want.

I'm not 100% sure but I think they have to run period-correct equipment exept for tires and safety gear.

It's probably not as heavy as it looks by its size. Cars of that age are basically just tin cans.
My Mustang was only 2900lbs on the scales at Mission.

True, but the 63 Galaxy Lightweight 427 weighed just under 3400 pounds and that was without a heater, a thinner frame, no radio, sound deadening, lots of fiberglass, aluminum bumpers, etc. Otherwise I think it'd be closer to 4000 LBS. I think the original Mustangs were like 2550 pounds, which is less than my Corolla which is like 3000 lol
