Bugatti Bolide: 1825 HP hypercar for the track

Bugatti’s new hyper car, the Bolide. Bolide (French slang for “very fast car”)

Impressive stats:

One-thousand eight-hundred twenty-five horsepower; a 2733-pound dry weight; a top speed well above 300 mph; a Le Mans lap of 3:07, and a Nürburgring lap of 5:23. So, faster than an LMP1 car and in the league of the Porsche 919 Evo.

0 to 500 in 20.16 seconds. 0 to 100 in 2.17 seconds.

Meh? Another unusably fast hypercar that no member of the regular public can afford, and no one outside of a trained racing driver should be taking on the track.

The projected numbers are hard to conceptualize. One-thousand eight-hundred twenty-five horsepower; a 2733-pound dry weight; a top speed well above 300 mph; a Le Mans lap of 3:07, and a Nürburgring lap of 5:23.
Imaginary numbers mean nothing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ so we’ll see what they actually do

This Bugatti's high price tag and race-track only designation doesn't diminish all the hard work and ingenuity needed to make this car. This is a big feat of automotive engineering.

For example:

One of the cooler details on the Bolide is the roof scoop. The material its made of changes form as speed rises—at low speed, it's uniform, while at higher speeds, bubbles form on the surface to reduce drag and optimize airflow to the big wing. Bugatti uses an "X" pattern for the headlights, which both denotes the Bolide's experimental nature and pays tribute to Chuck Yeager's Bell X-1 aircraft.

This hyper car is unattainable for many people except for the 10 percent of the 1 percent of people in the world. So what?

The Bolide is a response to the electric hyper car manufacturers like Rimac":

"Electric hyper car? Fuck that!!"

I like cars as much as any RSer, but sometimes concept cars like this is just... pointless. Maybe if I'm just jaded or cynical or tired of rich people weenie-waving. Show me someone's project car and I'd get more excited than this horsepower/speed race machine.

Technological advancement is great, but we're not going to see these things trickle-down to performance cars in the 100K and below range, so to me, it might as well be rocket science that will never see real world application.

Yes, negotiations are being finalized for the sale of Bugatti to Rimac.

My point is that the Bolide with its 16 cylinder engine, and four turbochargers at 1825 HP is a superior car compared to the electric razors like the Tesla Roadster. A hypercar with handling capabilities for the track compared to a Tesla roadster that is fast in a straight line.

Nürburgring lap of 5:23 is a simulation number. Not the real number.

5:19 Porsche 919 is real Nürburgring track run number

It looks cool though.

The Veyron and Chiron were ugly.

You forgot to brag about cost of semi-annually pre-scheduled oil changes.
