Bumping this. Looking for:

Electrician to add some lights and sconces outside of the house, add bedroom ceiling lights, and add bathroom vent fans (see a good rec on the first page)

Landscaper to clean/remove shrubs and clean up backyard, as well as to consult/design on a low-maintenance front and backyard, as well as design of expanding our deck.

Concrete guy to pour concrete steps next to our uphill driveway, ripping out the existing wood log/paver stairs.

Also looking for an electrician. Hopefully simple stuff.

A kitchen outlet doesn't have any power. The separate outlet 80 cm below the problem outlet has power. A separate outlet 80cm above the problem outlet has power.

Possible to extend wire to change up a double light switch? Might need to go through a stud.

Gutter might be clogged but I also see it leaking from the side. Any fascia/soffit recommendations, might need to get them repairs/replaced.

Anybody know any countertop companies? I have a small bar that I want a counter on, but most places require a minimum spend/amount.

The bar is only about 70 linear inches, standard counter depth (25 or 26 inches).

Thanks!

Ruby Tree Care is good. We use them for commercial jobs regularly and they've been A+. They might not always be the cheapest but they've always been there for us when we needed them desperately.

I am doing this now. For reference, I am looking at a flush insulated door with windows. Here's where I went:

caspenterprises.com - cheaper, word-of-mouth company. Highly recommended by bcrdukes. Not very responsive to emails or communications. Quoted $2600 all-in for steelcraft (12 week lead-time).

doorcare.ca - a bit more expensive than casp but not much. much more 'professional' outfit. Great communication and turnaround. Quoted $3100 for steelcraft (12 week lead-time), Amarr or Northwest Door (2-week lead time)

jmacdoors.com - most expensive. didn't bother to send somebody to view the door unless we had specific model in mind. Wasn't impressed. Quoted $5100 for clopay.

I am probably going to go with Casp since they are about $500 cheaper for the same model as doorcare, and came highly recommended by other RS'ers. Although I am concerned about their responsiveness. If it weren't for Dukes and other testimonials I would go with Doorcare and pay the premium for the customer service responsiveness.

haha sorry man I wished that Casp was more responsive. You gotta really call them to get them to come over. My experience was A+ to be honest but I'm sure others here got maybe a B- experience at best. I'd still use them though

JMac - Yeah the guy is a stickler for only selling coplay. Probably higher profit and easier installation so you pay the premium but not everyone lives in the British Properties.

Edit: Maybe go with Door Care. I realized my thread and recommendation of Casp was from 2014 so I'm sure things have changed a lot

He has his own shop & cutting machine. Real savings is the cutting machine.
shop is in surrey 12372 84 ave.
His partner flip guy does the counter top install. good work and attention to detail from the partner. Azim is the face and hustler. Can also do simple plumb jobs and can sell you sinks etc. as well.
edit: do not get azim to "finish" what you can see. his finish is not good. get the flip guy to finish - his finish is awesome.

Thanks, I actually got a referral from a friend to a countertop fabricator. You go to wholesale counter stores, pick the one you want, and then they will buy the slab, fabricate it, and install.

https://www.instagram.com/veritas.stone/?hl=en

I didn't have a lot of options with my small space and so can't compare pricing, but I assume its cheaper because you are cutting out some overhead. But if anybody needs the contact let me know!

Anyone here or knows/recommends anyone for a geothermal system?

Hotwater tank+swimming pool furnace and furnace near the end of life as per technician's last maintenance visit as previous owner didn't really care all that much to maintain them properly.

Given the high cost of running the whole system, my pool guy suggested maybe looking into a geothermal solution that many of his customers adopted in the recent years. Thus, I thought I'd at least get a quote to see what kind of cost difference I'd be looking vs. replacing the entire current HVAC/Hotwater system.
