What do you need get done? I've been going to Overdrive. Yes it's in Richmond but it's just across the bridge. It's great because I just on the other side of the bridge.

+1 for Overdrive. I didn't recommend it because I figured he wouldn't want to cross a bridge LOL.

Precisely this.

It's just all the regularly scheduled stuff like oil changes, brake service, alignment etc. I don't want to go out of my way to do it and most dealers will send me home in an Uber (or have great wifi for me to work there) but Destination Honda's quote is double Alpha1's but Alpha1's hours kinda suck - opening at 10 means I'm without a car for the middle of the day.

I've been going to Burrard Acura as they do good work but they changed their booking tool and it's total clusterfuck to get booked with them now - I'm not gonna go out of my way to use them.

Not a fan of Burrard Acura now. (or I should say, their service advisors) They're priced significantly more than independent shops, and they upsell like crazy. I went in for an oil change a few months ago, and they tried upselling me $1600 in other services.

There's no courtesy car at Overdrive, but their lounge is pretty decent to do some work in. Bring your own drinks tho.

That's a bummer that you had a bad experience with them as I've had really good experiences with them - never been upsold anything and they've eaten the cost on little and big things with me. When they washed my car and damaged my ceramic coating they put up no fight to get it repaired including letting me use my own shop at a cost of $2k versus accepting their own in house coating. One of their current advisors is pretty easy on the eyes too...

The only annoying thing was when my rear glass shattered that they made me go through Acura Canada to get it covered first before they were willing to work on it - I know lots of other Canadian dealers who were fixing it first and then they'd work it out with Acura Canada after the fact. It meant I went 2.5 weeks without a rear window.

I was gonna say if you are willing to cross a bridge.... TSS

They charge fair pricing, but you know you will get taken care of, and they will back up their crap if anything happens.

So at least you know even the simple stuff will get done right etc etc

=)

Any good landscaper recs? I've got a 36x25' backyard that raccoons have beat up real good this winter (grubs). It has never been a particularly healthy lawn (2.5 years old) - uneven, lots of dead spots etc and with expected water restrictions I'd like to figure out what a good plan is to have a low water but healthy lawn.

We still use it as a lawn as my kid runs around it and we get out the bouncy castle etc for her so paving it over or turning it into a lounge space is not an option yet.

My wife and I think we might need to "talk to a white guy" to get the help we need.

I used royal blinds, cheapest price, screens cut to size and installed, great communication

I am looking to fix 2 broken window screens myself, and with the right tools, it doesn't look ridiculously hard?

Of course, everything looks easy on YouTube, right?

As long as the frame is in good shape and you are just changing the mesh part, yes it's easy to DIY fix it. Even without the special tool that pushes the rod into the groove.

Looking around for a recommendation for a good sports physio.

Looks like I tore my ACL, need to confirm with MRI, but wanted to get a head start on recovery.

Reach out to Strength In Motion, I've had pretty good physio results with a mix of passive and active therapy.

Physio - Cam Wong
Active Rehab - Troy Murray

Would it make more sense to do the MRI first? When my shoulder was messed up last year, my family doctor sent me to get an ultrasound imaging done. The results came back and ruled out the tearing of any tendons, but found some calcification instead. Because of the confirmed diagnosis, I think the physio treatment ended up being different enough (compared to a tendon tear).

Depending on where you are, I’ve always gone to Eclipse in Langley by the Costco and see Cheryl. She’s been awesome for me in the past for a whole whack of different injuries (rotators, knees, wrists (eyoo), neck)

May i ask what happened to your shoulder?

I'm experiencing some muscle ache on my upper left shoulder/arm and have been going to physio, which helps, but there's still a lingering pain. I haven't done any imaging yet, which is my next step or at least in my list of questions for my physio therapist. My issue started with a session at the gym when I did some overhead presses.

Saw the ER docs up in Whistler and they were able to do some manual tests, are were fairly confident it is a tear, already got referred to a surgeon, but will still need an MRI before he does anything. But they said I can get started on physio right away to prep for surgery

Near the tail end of the pandemic, I started noticing pain somewhere beneath my posterior deltoid. And then in the front near the socket / ball / tendon where the tendon attaches to the bone, there is pain and an obvious stiffening with the tendon as well. For a while, I thought it was just computer / mouse overuse since it was on my mouse hand, but gradually I started losing range in the shoulder as well. There were certain positions I can't move my arm to for one reason or another (loss of range / stiffness / pain), and there were certain positions that I can get to via one arc of motion, but not through another when the ball and socket joint should have allowed free range movement to get into that position.

The worst part of it is, on top of the sore / achy pain from soft tissue injuries, sharp pain started to develop too, and certain movements would trigger a sharp intense pain deep in the shoulder that would literally bring me to tears. It was not a pretty sight.

Before getting the ultrasound scan, I was concerned that the sharp pain was a result of some sort of tendon tearing. The family doctor didn't know either (and I more or less expected that) since they are not soft tissue injury experts. But obviously he sent me on the right path, and the ultrasound scan found some calcifications around the shoulder joint, and that probably led to tendonitis.

I did a bunch of shockwave therapy, and it was $$$$ as heck, but it seems to be one of the few non-invasive treatments that are effective against that kind of calcification. But ultimately, I still needed to do a ton of rehab exercises, and it doesn't seem like it'll ever get back to being 100%.

Wow, sorry to hear. I truly hope you fully recover as close to 100% as possible.

I'm going to admit that I tried to lift more than I thought I could (ego lifted) and injured myself, so my issue was self-induced and I'm paying the price for it. It's been weeks and it is getting better, but similar to you, I need to take the right steps to get the right treatment.

Anyone know either a GC or a carpenter/landscaper for a job that's probably in the $25-40k range? Looking to build a 16x12 deck on my 2nd floor and then I want to extend my 30' wide concrete patio by about 6-8'. I tried Homestars and got only 1 response while the names I've been given by friends aren't responding.

^ I might have a contact, your job might be too big for him though and he's definitely not gonna do it this year as he's closing the year out at the end of Sept and going on vacation for a few months. He's a 70yo grandpa that takes these jobs to kill time and he only takes one job at a time. He works on the job he's on and nothing else. He did my 20x12 composite deck with concrete foundations
