The inlaws had one, and I drove the equivalent Corolla hatch in Australia.
It's a car lol.
Honestly the iM is not a bad looking car, could do with a bigger engine or a better tranny.

I see what Toyota is doing here. Throw in an anemic engine/transmission into Gen 1 cars and come back with Gen 2 with a beefed up engine leaving Gen 1 owners in the dust.
And yes, the iM really is just a car. Nothing special to it and nothing breaks.

The return of the clown shoe. Now BMW just needs to take that and stick their B48 in it ala the Morgans.

I guess I'm alone in thinking shooting brakes don't look very good
Then again, they're almost never made, so maybe not.

You're not alone, underscore. I prefer hatchbacks / fastbacks far more than shooting brakes / clown shoes, and I have always wondered that if shooting brake styled cars are made alongside sedans and hatchbacks, how well or how poorly would the sells numbers be?

very niche for sure
sorta see the appeal: 1 car solution for those who want a sports car handling/feel while more practical, but not compromising the drive too much (hatchbacks are fwd/awd, sporty crossovers are too tall/heavy)

My buddy tried to put a deposit on both a Toyota GR86 and a Subaru BRZ... Subaru was totally upfront with him, gave him a delivery date, pricing structure... took his deposit etc.
Toyota no matter who he called, they couldn't tell him pricing or give a date... nothing... seems like Subaru is building them all for themselves to start. He's going with the Subaru because he has no idea if/when he can even get a Toyota or how much it is.

^ Whao damn, that is way sooner than expected.
Props for Subaru being able to coordinate all the variables, and deliver a new car under this volatile climate (chip shortage, shipping delays, pandemic in general)...
My client order a specialty 3M product (in the signage and graphics industry) and the 3M response I got was "we are hoping to fufill your order in 2022, but may run into 2023." lolol no joke...
This is the email from this morning..
As you are all aware, there are raw material shortages that most of our suppliers are facing. Issues that were supposed to last a few weeks are now stretching into 2022. ************ is trying to source different products to fill your needs. We have introduced new product lines like ********* and found new suppliers for other existing products to give us the best shot of having product for you…even if it’s not the brand we’re all used to.
Notable Challenges:
*************– Continued delays due to raw material shortage - ETA for this to settle down is Mid 2022
************* – Running 8-12 Weeks behind on productions – KOMACEL line not currently providing ETA’s
*************– Extreme delays due to raw material shortage – ETA for this to settle down is Early 2022
************* – Along with increases in raw materials – production shortage to surface coat the blanks and coil product has increased our ETAs – hoping for some relief into October/November
************* – 8+ weeks out on production
************* – Severe Container shortage out of China – forecasting shortage into Q4 and increases due to logistic cost increases on containers
Yap...
This is an industry that are used to 1 to 2 business day turnaround to give you an idea....
It's not even down to pricing anymore. I have clients who calls me and tells me they can pay $$$$ for rush and I am like... welp, I see the big juicy profits but I cant source that shit even if my life depended on it....

No realistic ETA for any single car. No cars on lot and there's barely any floor models. They said they expect the shortage to be in effect for the next two years.
Waitlist for Supra is 1 year rn
Waitlist for RAV4 Prime is 3 years
LOL
I wonder if it's affecting Toyota more heavily, because they depend on very efficient operational processes. They were the first to implement and perfect JIT (just in time) and Kaizen to that effect. That usually means they only had enough raw materials to cover what they need at that point in time and expected a backorder at their regular interval.
