Personally, I still don't understand why it is better to sell high octane gas at low octane prices. But hey, since I am benefiting from this from time to time, I am not going to complain.
I think there is a law that forces gas stations to sell premium at 87 octane prices in situations where 87 octane is no longer available. I could be wrong. Hoping Manic can chime in.

CTR (FK8) guys find more power and more range with the Shell 93. I find that it predominately helps turbo cars, so you won't find much difference with that sweet 5.0L V8.

I can't speak from experience because I only fill Shell 92 (US) and with my heavy foot, it doesn't make a difference on range. Butt dyno - Shell 92 US feels way better than Chevron 92 US.

Currently running Exxon 92 US cause RoverT told me it's the same gas since he knows the gas station owner lmao. Additives probably different but I'm broke lol and I ain't running Chevron again.

lol, can you tell the diff using Chev 94?
If you drive like an old man, it's probably better to just use Chev 94. Without ethanol, it will probably give you more range per tank.

Computer or phone?

You might have malware that hijacks certain sites and redirects you to some scammy survey or contest sites. I had it for the longest time whenever I used Google, annoying.

I'm sure other RS-ers also know about this -- be apparently, the Mobil station at Richmond Superstore carries these options now...

I don't see it at any other Esso / Mobil stations yet, but it wouldn't make too much sense if the option is only offered in Richmond, but not elsewhere in Metro Vancouver.

We need a 3-way Shell 93 vs Chevron 94 vs Esso 93 battle real soon, esp given how Chevron 94 is now an ethanol blend instead of "pure gas".

I can tell you this, I was getting pre-det in my Lotus with Chevron 94 and it was driving me crazy.

I tried Shell 93 and no pre-det.

Yes, it's how they got the boost from 91 -> 93.

No more pure gas around as far as I know.

Which has the least amount of ethanol?

Not sure, but I believe BC mandates a minimum 5% ethanol content in gasoline.

I laugh how people freak about ethanol then bust a nut over E85. Lol.

You don’t like ethanol if your gas sits around at all. That’s what I see from it.

I'm pretty sure that every (brand new) car sold in Canada in the last 20+ years are able to handle E10 blended gasoline without any issues because they were designed and built for that. So the problem with ethanol-blended fuel in modern cars really only comes down to ethanol's tendency to attract water over time, and regular (87 octane) gas is more prone to that than 91+ octane gas.

Also, as cdizzle has mentioned, ethanol is a fantastic (ICE) performance enhancer if your car's ECU knows how to take advantage of it. It has an inherent cooling capability, in addition to having the ability to resist knock.

without issues =/= max performance/efficiency for legacy engines designed from say last century

the manual says you may run it but if there's drivability issues, switch back to non-ethanol

i see it as the og shrinkflation and still get pure gas for storage

I still think shit gas is shit as the additives package isn’t as good. Techron or shell nitro is still better than petro can gas / super save gas. If I’m paying the same money why not get the top tier gasoline with the better additives

Thats the main issue I have with it lol....

My prime uses a tank a year... which we force it to run the ICE... technically we can actually run the Prime as an EV all year as long as there are no road trips beyond 200KM (anything below we just use the model 3)

My bike is stored over the winter... my uasual "storage" = fill chev 94 gas to full, ride home, put it on stands, and jerrycan it to the brim so there are minimal air in the system... wonder what will that do to the bike when I try to start it next April

You don’t put some fuel stabilizer? It helps to absorb the water and keep the gas from degrading as much. I just dump a couple hundred ml per tank (100ml for 30L per instructions) in whatever car I’m storing for winter.

Not expensive at Can Tire for a bottle.

I wonder if there is high pressure water separators. I stuck one in my boat as I was having issues. Swap out the oil style filter once a year and your golden.
