Does Chev 94 advertise how much ethanol content is in it? I wonder if it was their counter in order to compete with Shell 93.. |
The change was pretty recent. I think it was done within the last 2-3months. |

My sensor reading rang from E5 ~ E6 chevron 94. Shall 93 constant E10 reading |
https://www.facebook.com/groups/thev...42903185868481 I figured you might need to join that group (or have fb in the first place) to see the link, so here's a screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/jbOjErB.png tl;dr Chevron 94 supposedly now has up to 10% ethanol in the lower mainland pumps. Esso also offers 93 octane with up to 10% ethanol. The same guy that's been doing these thorough fuel tests will do another test with the updated fuel formulas, and also include Shell 92 from the WA. He started a gofundme to cover the costs for fuel and dyno. Extra money raised will be donated to BC Children's hospital. https://www.gofundme.com/f/which-pre...ource=customer |
Video is out now... well several weeks ago. But I just noticed now: |
I ran a tank of the Esso-Mobil 93 in my Shxtbox, and came away pretty impressed. Prior to the mandatory ethanol blend requirements, my Shxtbox hated the (non-blended?) Esso-Mobil 91 -- the engine always runs coarse and unwilling to rev, so I rarely fill up at Esso / Mobil. But now their 93 gas feels subjectively pretty similar to Chevron 94 -- engine smoothness, throttle response, and willingness to rev are all still a little inferior to Shell 93. But compared to before, it is actually a pretty big improvement, and I wouldn't mind running my Shxtbox on it now. Incidentally, it seems to sell for 29¢/L more than regular (87) octane gas, compared to 32¢/L over regular with Shell V-Power 93. So at least I can sort of justify the slight performance loss lol~ |
What car is said Shxtbox? I personally haven't noticed but I think here in the GTA they have 93 at Esso/Mobile. I'll take a look next time I'm there for a fill out and may try out a tank of it if/when available. |
This is the Shxtbox with its 100hp of fury lol~ https://scontent.fyvr3-1.fna.fbcdn.n...kQ&oe=65A6F764 But before you think I'm wasting that premium 93 fuel on a pleb car, I can assure you that I wasted good $$$ to ECU tune it to run on (US) 91 octane gas, so that it is actually benefiting from the high octane gas lol~ Prior to its recent introduction in Metro Vancouver, I believe the GTA was the only place in Canada to have 93 gas from Esso Mobil. |
That’s an epic lean. You show that lovebox what’s what |
Wow. What have you done to your Mazda 2? My wife's Yaris is pretty fun to drive. I remember heading back toward the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal and got busted going 120km/h in a 20km/h zone. Went so fast, didn't even know it. |

- ECU tune for (US) 91 gas - polyurethane and RTV-stiffened engine mounts - (front) camber bolts - Konig wheel + 205 tires Because the car is still on stock suspension, its get wobbly if I try and ask it to do too much. But it is a ton of fun to bomb around town in, and having 100hp means I can WOT and beat the shxt out of it and it is still dead slow LOL~ I think your wife's Yaris has 5 - 10 more hp than my 2. At Mission Raceway, if I have a good exit coming out of Turn 9 (the final turn before the straightaway), I can typically get close to 140km/h before I need to hit the brakes LOL~ (Most other cars can probably reach 160 - 180+) |
