Floyd Mayweather announced on Instagram Sunday that he will be involved in a boxing exhibition bout against YouTuber Logan Paul on Feb. 20.

The fight is scheduled to air on Fanmio through a pay-per-view arrangement.

The news comes just days after Jake Paul, Logan's brother, defeated former Slam Dunk Contest champion Nate Robinson in the ring via knockout.

Mayweather has not fought since New Year's Eve of 2018, defeating Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in an exhibition match in Tokyo. Nearly a year and a half before that, Mayweather took down the UFC's Conor McGregor in a pay-per-view bout in Las Vegas.

Mayweather currently owns a professional boxing record of 50-0 and is widely considered to be one of the best pound-for-pound fighters of all-time.

Meanwhile, Paul squared off against fellow YouTuber KSI twice and owns a career record of 0-1.

Oh god, get that logan crap off of here, bunch of tiktok garbage

SkinnyPupp 12-06-2020 09:37 PM

Yup we're talking about it in the MMA thread

The Pauls can draw.. That fight with him (or his brother I can't recall) and the other youtuber did 1m buys which is HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE for this era. And he with Tyson did like 1.2m last week

In another forum I'm in, I made the argument that while Tyson certainly drew like 95-99% of their buys, if they were each to do a show separate from each other, Paul would outdraw Tyson. I think the curiosity aspect of Tyson is closed now, even though he looked better than most expected.

Now that Mayweather is his opponent? 100% Paul draws more than Tyson. UNLESS Tyson gets a match with Holyfield and they do a good build.

Also this shows what a sad state boxing is in, where their biggest events are not even sanctioned matches anymore, but exhibition matches FailFish Nobody gives a fuck about boxing, they just want the storylines. To those people I say, you should check out pro wrestling LUL

I don’t care about sports but will watch the big events like this etc. So from my PoV, boxing as a whole was made somewhat irrelevant with the rise of MMA years ago. Again I’m not saying ones better than the other, but from the commoners view

We have one of the greatest boxers of all time fighting a youtuber. Floyd could literally kill him in the ring if he wanted to.

I'd rather watch WWE > this circus.

On a real boxing note, Alvarez vs. Smith is on Dec 19th to unify the titles. Pretty ballsy move for Canelo to challenge the best, undefeated, opponent, that has a huge size advantage (7" height/8" reach). GGG is fighting the night before as well.

money is the only thing that's important in boxing.. if you put trump vs obama you'd have the biggest purse in history. people would rather watch that than watch the two best boxers go at it (i mean who wouldn't)

Teriyaki 12-07-2020 06:46 PM

^ This. With the state of nonsense that is happening down there. Let's just settle it like in the old west. Last man standing gets spoils.

mikemhg 12-08-2020 11:33 AM

I'm a fan of Mayweather, but he's killing boxing with these circus act type fights.

Logan Paul, a 2 fight pro, who fought the same guy (KSI) in his professional fights, going against an undefeated all-time great, if not best ever in his weight class?

Fuck off.

My sport has become so ridiculous nowadays.

What a shitty fight. Anyone who paid to watch got robbed.

SpeedStars 06-06-2021 07:40 PM

I'd bet money Mayweather held out to make sure this thing lasted the full 8 rounds. A little kickback probably helped too.

DavidNguyen 06-06-2021 08:21 PM

Sucks to be the up and comers in boxing. They train their whole lives to fight at the top

PAUL Brothers just slide on in to box the greatest. Sucks but it's all about the $

Manic! 06-06-2021 08:38 PM

Floyd says he got paid 30 mill just for the sponsors on his fight shorts. That's fcking crazy.

i expect them to get a minimum of 100 million for this fight. Easily

SkinnyPupp 06-07-2021 02:29 AM

That was beyond pathetic

This 'celebrity boxing' thing goes through phases of popularity, and if anything could kill this current phase, it was this. We'll see with the Tyron Woodley fight I guess

It's hilarious that these Paul brothers come across as complete fucking dipshit morons that everyone hates - and that's exactly what they want and they are making a ton of money just from being dipshits that everyone hates. Pretty mind blowing

I wonder what the actual ppv buy numbers are for a fight like this. Clearly there is a market for trash but are they really selling millions of ppv buys at $50 a pop for this?

Jake Paul vs Askren did over 1 million buys, so yes people are buying like crazy

If 1% of Jake Paul and TMT's Social Media followers pay to watch him, it will still be over 1 million buyers.

whitev70r 06-07-2021 08:55 AM

This exposed Dana White's slave labour approach to the fighters in UFC. If this junk can pull in a $30M for Mayweather on his shorts and even $1M for Logan (or more) ... how did the top card in UFC 260 get only what they got Miocic ($750K) and Ngannou ($500K)?

JJ should just go into boxing if he wants to get paid.

MarkyMark 06-07-2021 09:15 AM

I do like the fact that Jake Paul has been ripping on Dana and how little the UFC pays their fighters. Dana also blocked GSP from fighting De La Hoya, but that probably mostly has to do with the fact that he hates both of them.

SkinnyPupp 06-07-2021 09:53 AM

For reference the DON PPV he's referring to did 115K buys (which is a big success for pro wrestling)

mikemhg 06-07-2021 10:46 AM

The fight was a joke and a work, as we all expected.

It's funny how Mayweather can still trick people into thinking these non-boxers have any chance of giving him any trouble. I figured after Connor, people would clue in, but I guess not. The size argument was still one that made people think Logan had a chance there.

At this point I highly doubt Mayweather can pull another one of these, but who knows, they might be able to sell the Jake Paul fight if he disposes of Tyron in easy fashion?

This card was atrocious though. Out of all the fights, I thought Chad Johnson did well, I was impressed with him as a first fight.

The Badou Jack fight was a joke though, buddy was -5000 :lol

I've never seen odds like that. Colina straight up looked like Glass Joe in there, long shorts and all :lol
