My parents took 3 kids up it in a extended cab and camper way back in the 90's. We loved it and was one of the best roads trips ever. Places and things to see every few hours. The best decision they made though was taking the ferry back south from Skagway to Prince Rupert and then BC Ferries back to Port Hardy instead of driving all the way back south. Only reason I have ever gotten to stop and visit Juneau and Ketchikan.
Highly recommend the trip if you have time to stop and enjoy it along the way after leaving Dawson Creek.
