| Most reliable used CUV?
Looking for a used CUV for my family. Main concern is reliability/maintenance costs. Anyone have experience with the following vehicles? Mostly looking at base models w/ AWD.
17-19 CRV - good size/spacious but I have read about oil dilution issues
19+ Rav4 - good standard safety BSM/RCTA (sense 2.0?) but have read about the jerky transmission and hybrid has battery drain issues
17+ CX-5 - haven't found too many complaints but the size is too small for a future family of 4? sister has a newer gen cx-9 and she's had electrical issues i believe.
TIA

Toyota RAV4 - non-hybrid, non-CVT model is your best choice.
Avoid the CR-V unless it's not 1.5T (I don't remember if they had the K24 in the newer model). The CX-5 is a bit on the small side but the 2.5L non-turbo is pretty well-regarded.

Those models are all still fairly new still to know whether there will be major maintenance issues down the road (with exception of the CRV oil dilution problem as the one obvious to avoid). They are all just of out warranty, or still have it.
I have a CX-5 and no issues so far (non-turbo).

I'd like to argue that the Toyota power-train is the most well-tested as it is basically in a lot of other Toyota products, and they haven't really introduced anything groundbreaking in the non-hybrid model.
It's their MO, after all.

Maybe some day Toyota will trickle down the same powertrain from their Toyota WEC hybrid champ car.

I would also consider the fact the CRV is a CVT trans as well. Some hate them, some don't mind them but it's something to note.
The CRV is probably the most rounded option out of the 3, cx-5 is smaller but handles better. The Rav4 i wouldn't consider if you weren't getting a hybrid as that's the main selling feature.
Have you also looked at the Rogue? The brand new model is pretty good, very similar to the CRV but has a more intuitive cabin.

Turbo cx-5 & hybrid rav would be nice but they're out of my budget. ~30k
The new rogues look great in and out IMO but I don't think they've changed the powertrain or steering of the car. I've driven an 18' before and the steering was too light/disconnected from the road for me, I couldn't get use to it.
Anyone know or driven the Rav4 and notice the sluggishness from stop/go? Some reddit users say that's just how it performs.
Also anyone have issues with fitment of an infant car seat in the back of the cx-5? I'm only 5'7 so space wouldnt be THAT big of a deal but this will be my first kid so im not even sure how much space I need lol.

You can't beat Toyota reliability. The 2.5 4 cylinder has been around for ages.
If you can swing it, 100% get the hybrid.
I don't know what your use case is, but the CX-5 was too small for us.
I really liked the CR-V, my wife did not. They do have the noted oil dilution problem. They have a hybrid version for 2020 but I don't think I've noticed them around. Admittedly I'm not looking for it. Having owned a 1st gen Mazdaspeed 3 which had a similar oil dilution problem, I do wonder if it isn't just finding the right oil for it.

CRV Hybrid is not in Canada, only the U.S.
Honda Canada has not made any statements of when they will releasing the hybrid in Canada which is a bit of a joke in this day and age.

You might be surprised with the new Rogue, it drives better than it did before.
Also the RAV4 Hybrid is only $2260 more I know it pushes over your budget but if you look at long term the resell is better and you save a lot of fuel.

I've driven all the options and I would say that you must test drive each one and there will be one clear winner depending on what you (consciously or not) desire. All of them are unique in their own way, CRV is probably the most in the middle option.

I am still dumbfounded on that decision.
It would of been a hot seller, especially in Metro Vancouver considering the gas prices
