^^ lol Vancouver House was also premium and look how that went. I don't think it's in their best interest to offer the hottest 0km cars, their goal is to milk as much profits as they can = cutting corners.

bcrdukes 04-29-2021 10:40 AM

comparing "insert brand/widget" to Vancouver House... not sure is srs :suspicious:

JDMDreams 04-29-2021 10:45 AM

^ just saying high cost doesn't mean premium, everyone and their dog advertises themselves to be premium high-end. Have you ever seen an ad for budget poor people only?

bcrdukes 04-29-2021 10:49 AM

Like in the case of your hard on for Tesla, right? :hotbaby:

OpenRoad's Portfolio program has repeatedly indicated their sanitization efforts on their cars after each rental, esp once COVID hit. I wouldn't expect Porsche Drive to do anything less. Of course, it is unrealistic to expect hospital-grade sanitization, but I can't imagine how it wouldn't be better than Budget Rent-a-Car.

IMO we would all do it if we could drive the cars all day and not worry about the money, but most cannot, and so I maintain that the pool of people who are actually GOING to sign up to rent a 911 for $12k is basically 0.

Mark,

If I was in a different phase in my life right now -- younger before my current family responsibilities exist, or older when my kid(s) can be sufficiently independent -- it'd be quite viable for me to swing that $12k 3-month rental just to cross it off the bucket list. For better or for worse, I am not at that phase right now, and I'm a little sad that I won't get to try that 911 "ownership" day in, day out.

I don't have a good grasp of who or how big the target audience of the Porsche Drive program would be, but I can see how it could work for me during certain phases of my life.

I've been confused about these high end dealer rentals. If I had $4000 a month to blow on a car, you can easily finance or lease a Ferrari/ Lamborghini. I don't see why you would want to pay that much for a low to average spec Porsche. And if I had that much cash to blow on a month I most likely won't be driving one car that much as a run around vehicle to make the seat time Vs price make sense.

To lease a Lambo with $4000/month including tax you would have to put 25%-35% down, have a credit score in the 800's and have a really good driving record to get a the lowest insurance rate. And don't forget to factor in deprecation and the 26% lux tax which will go up to 37% with the 10% federal lux tax in Jan.

If you spend say $12k for 3 months, no down, insurance and you get a choose of any Porsche model it's actually a pretty good deal.

FWIW, I think these look absolutely delicious, not to mention that many of them appear to be brand spanking new:

Damn... I wanna drive brand spanking new Porsche with minimal money outlay!

Depends on the car. A broken 996? No, you'll lose plenty. A perfect 964? You're probably paying for maintenance, gas, insurance, taxes, and making 10k with a 3 year ownership. The more expensive, better condition and less common it is, the easier thats gonna be.

What does a perfect 964 cost? I imagine they aren't easily attainable.

Ok well spend the extra $6 and bring some fucking hand sanitizer lol. I bet they’ll even give you a complimentary bottle with the car if that’s what’s holding you back.

I'm just curious if this 'fleet' will be also from cars dealership normally use for demo's?

And how does 'one day' work? Do you get 24 hrs? Or u have to bring it back before the dealership is closed?

Another thing is hygiene. Rental cars are filthy. Especially during Coronas. I'm not sure if this is a good deal if you're driving a 2-3 year old car with like 20000 beat km on it.

We get it, you're not interested. Move on.

FAQ says they bring the car to you (and pick it up from you). In the app it's not clear that they bring it to you but it is a 24 hour rental as you pick the exact time you want it for.

As for the fleet it seems to be a separate fleet but who knows - will be subject to demand I suppose.

Harvey Specter 05-01-2021 11:13 AM

Porsche Vancouver posted a IG story few days ago of a bunch of brand new Porsche models waiting at the port for the Porsche Drive program. My guess is the Porsche Drive program will have models exclusively for the drive program, if there's a shortage due to high demand they'll use dealer demos.

I plan to book a car for a day or two this month, interestingly I can't book for 24 hours on the weekend (Sat/Sun), it has to be Friday to Monday.

westopher 05-01-2021 11:19 AM

Wow $539 for a 911 for a day? I’m definitely gonna do this, or maybe even a cayman. Awesome.

LP700-4 05-01-2021 04:58 PM

Porsche Drive cars are exclusive units provided just for the program itself. No dealer personnel or customers will be test driving these cars. Porsche Canada logs the mileage and has trackers on every unit.

24 hour would be (pick up 9am drop off next day 9am) or whatever time. You can’t book for sat/sun 24h because we aren’t open Sunday. So sat-monday would be ok

All the cars at the moment are brand new just been PDI’d so good time to choose one if you are going to do it anyway. All cars are professionally detailed between customers and fully sanitized. There are no back to back rentals same day for this reason.

Again let me know if I can help any of you set something up. Only a couple cars have gone out, a handful are reserved but expecting more to be spoken for as demand ramps up

Thanks for your input.

For daily rentals is the car delivered to your house? Is the Panamera the GTS model and what model is the 911?

Hmm... trackers... I'm so tempted to ask, but I won't since I can probably guess what the most likely answers are gonna be, and they'd be the answers that I wouldn't want to hear LOL~

Delivery depends on availability - the earlier you book the better as usual with these things. The Panamera we have is actually a GTS at the moment. 180K+ MSRP high spec

We have mix of Carrera S and 4S for 992. Along with 992 Cabriolets and Targa 4's

These are Porsche's after all - we're not going to tell you that you can't drive them as they should be driven but obviously be respectful of the cars aswell as others :hotbaby:

Ahhh, wish I had the disposable income to rent a Porsche, even for a day...

Out of curiosity, what would your day with the car look like? Drive to Whistler and back?

Me, I'd probably go to Horseshoe Bay for breakfast then head up to Pemberton and back. With travel restrictions and so many places being closed the public washroom at Horseshoe Bay could come in quite handy. :)

Once I confirm that my Roadside Plus coverage covers the rental I'm definitely booking a day off this month for this.
