People who drive those slingshots etc.

Don’t think anyone on here has one? Or any of those other open wheel cars from like KTM etc.

But all I’ve gotta say is, you’re out of your mind if you’re driving one of these and not wearing a helmet.

I see people driving these all the time without a helmet snd Jesus Christ, what are you thinking? The windshield is basically a ramp for debris to launch into your teeth/head. You could easily get seriously injured if not die from Kicked up debris as you sit wayyyy lower than a motorcycle with zero protection. Crazy

Ummm...I think by law, they're supposed to wear helmets, no? They are considered motorcycles, and not cars, but I could be wrong.

Hondaracer 05-18-2021 07:47 PM

I’d say 1/10 I see the drivers are wearing helmets.

Most owners seem to be the retired type that buy it as a weekend driver and maybe don’t understand the danger they are in? Lol

Back when I kept track one summer only 25% of people on motorbikes had proper safety gear. It doesn't surprise me that these things have an even worse rate. I don't think I've ever seen someone wearing a helmet in one.

No need to wear a helmet in a Slingshot. I took one for a test drive and it was fun.

After over forty years of working, most of the time,l juggling two jobs, damn right I deserve some fun. I’ve paid my fucking dues.

Did it with legit hard work, not mooching off EI, government handouts, etc. definitely not off the backs of others or through criminal activities. Not a single vacation in 30 years. Never did I think growing up in the DTES I would own a home that’s paid off and sending the kids through university

Plus, it was only a test drive. After all I’ve been through, I’m not going to die in one of those.

You only live once? No. You only die once.

Where do you test drive one? Polaris dealer?

Nobody said you don't deserve any fun, shouldn't test drive it, etc... (nor did anybody ask about you having paid off a house, send kids to college, etc).

It's just that it's kind of wild to drive an open cockpit car without any face protection. I race a car without a windshield and a rock kicked up at your face at speed is no joke!

Nobody said I would buy this thing and drive around town without face protection.
