You guys go to the dealer for an oil change? Just swing in an oil change place, in and out in a few minutes.

Granted I may be biased because I have a good friend who worked at one for a decade who I trusted to do it right and I've had nothing but bad experiences with dealerships but I can't imagine wanting to book an appointment at a dealer and all that crap (why does an oil change take long enough for you to need a loaner?) just for some oil.

Overbooking and capacity issues (understaffed etc.) can arise.

Speaking of oil changes, how's CG Motorsports in terms of regular servicing?

Got an oil change and power steering fluid change coming up in a bit.

Please aware, other than some of the negative reviews on Google

My work place is literally foot steps from CG.

Otherwise the last two places I've been was Nixon, and most recently The Speed Syndicate

You'll literally be paying for convenience then. Well known members in E36 community aren't really a fan of Chris @ CG. E46 M guys are a fan of CG, but its a circle jerk so whatdoyouexpect.

Here's some excerpts on CG related topics:

Quote:
he's known to fuck people over and do weird shit
Quote:
He is most famous (maybe for this) for swapping out better condition parts for his own shitty ones to customers cars He's got a good mechanic there at cg though, who does great work, otherwise he'd be really fucked
Quote:
I personally Don't know him. But I have seen his outrageous prices for car parts. He does have a tendency to flake business as I had contacted him to do a auto to manual swap. But these guys know him better and opinions seem to align.
Quote:
I mean take the m3 for example. He knows that diff isn't going to last, but as long as it's not blown up before they drive off the lot no issues right? Or he could up sell the buyer to getting the rear subframe swapped which is probably what he's banking on. Just not the right way to do business in my opinion....
Quote:
man I just drove all the way out to CG in richmond to buy parts, then while I’m at the bank out there I get a text saying “never mind I don’t actually have the parts”. I was gonna grab some m3 twisty side skirts, texted me he has 2 left sides LOL
Quote:
He does have the parts. He is just being a dumb cunt and he changes his mind last minute. He probably wanted to do it before you arrived so he didnt have another situation like me on his hands.
Quote:
Cg quoted me 1100 to install coilovers. Standard bc coils on a e36 vert non m
Quote:
In short stripped bolts, not tracking straight after two tries and also knocked off air suspension calibration.
Quote:
Hahahaha, good luck with cg giving a real ppi
All diff people lol. I can only see as far as Feb 2021

Some people like CG. Some people don't. The circle jerk is strong though.

I got screwed by CG so there's that but like everything in life, there are two sides to the story.

I don’t buy into the “my car is so special only 1 mechanic shop knows how to work on it” philosophy for regular production vehicles…

MR2 is a good example, is it easy to work on? No. Lots in the community swear only a few MR2 Gods can work on them, but I have been to at least 3 different independent shops with mine for as much as a timing belt / water pump / clutch job and had no issues, just need to build a rapport with them and establish they’re the kind of people to research online for stuff if it arises rather than just whack it harder with a hammer.

^ you just need a competent shop, I rather have shop that fixes all makes and models from rolls Royce to Hyundai's to have the knowledge and diagnostic experience. Rather than a specially shop that only knows one brand. When ever I see cg I get the feeling of "I know what I have" prepared to get gouged.

CG Chris is a nice guy. He's a businessman, and can rub people the wrong way, but he knows the best way to keep his business going is to do good work. Reudi at CG was fucking awesome with my car and they got me sorted when I was much younger, broker, and not in a great situation. I know some of the people that have issues with them have been justified, some not, some I would definitely rather not have as customers anyways, so keep that in mind, especially most e36 owners lol.

Chris at CG was pretty slimy when I dealt with him. Mechanics are good however. They charge a lot though.

But based on the first point, I choose to not take my business there. You can run a good business without resorting to dishonesty in my opinion.
