PNE is officially over, but Playland, one more weekend. I waited for the call that never happened................ that I won the prize home, gulolol. |
Has anyone gone to PNE this year? Last year was scaled back quite a bit, didn't enjoy as much (wasn't a whole lot to check out - half the area was closed off). Debating whether to go this year. |
It’s pretty meh.. they moved the tent with the dueling pianos up to an open air area by the main show stage by the food etc. Bbq was pretty good but I feel like as a whole it’s fallen off ecen compared to the Covid times.. |
I know the wife took my eldest last Friday. It was fucking deeeeeead like deserted dead. Which for my wife who hates crowds just as much as me loved. Absolutely zero lines for everything and they practically had the place to themselves. Nothing new to report, same old same old. Honestly, if the mother in law didn't live by PNE and we got free tix and free parking we probably wouldn't go half the time. Missed some proud dad moment though, kid who's 8 beat out a bunch of adults on some game and won the large doll. Also did some bow and arrow thing and went all Legolis from LOTR on it. |
OT: CNE was a fun time this year(after being cancelled for the last two years), although food prices and midway games(most were $10) were $$$$. |
Don't forget if you have BCAA you receive 30% off if you buy your tickets a day in advance. |

I went on Tuesday of last week and it was decently packed.. I was surprised for a Tuesday but I guess kids are still out of school. Superdogs was great, Peking Acrobats was meh, BBQ was good, had my first colossal onion after years of being too full at the end of the day to get it. Missed the dive show but it was a lot lower than I was led to believe. The market is the same; you get bored of seeing Pink Stuff, massage chairs, and knives every year. A bunch of game stalls were closed. Pineapple Dole float was pretty good @ $6. We spent 6 hours there somehow though. We'll go next year because it's tradition and we can load up on fair foods but apart from that, meh. |
2 rides are shut down so alot of people feel they aren't getting they're money worth. kids ride on the other hand are plenty full |

I went on Sunday and it was pretty full. Everything on the PNE's website is a lie. No in/out privileges. Um, they had the hand stamps out. Can't bring this, can't bring that........... nobody was checking. BTW, BCAA, plus seniors discount - win! I don't do transit, but Fridays are 2 for 1 if you have a compass card....... something like that. Public Transit? yeah, right............... Chicago was surprisingly good. I enjoyed the Pryro show. Dancing was meh, but it was good, free entertainment. I think I was the only person on site with a mask on, but whatever............ bathrooms were filthy as usual. You had to wade through pools of urine. Make sure you roll up your pant legs and wear waterproof boots before going in. Got the usual colossal onion, which I could only eat half of. Took the rest home. Nothing like cold fried onions drenched in Tonkatsu Sauce at three in the morning. You can only watch super dogs so many times before it gets sickening (I've been to one my entire life, and wasn't impressed). Peking dancers......... nope. I was hoping to see the pep band, but missed them somehow. Got a couple of bags of Tom Thumb Doughnuts (that was their original name, me thinks). They're only good for about five minutes. Overall, it was good. I can say I went this year. I don't think many people can say they've been to the PNE as many times as I have. |
drop by on sunday as well.... didn't see you in the sea of ppl MG1. Rides were very long waits so we waited til near the end of the day for the ride lines to be shorter. Good thing my ride pass was a comp or else i would be pissed to spend so much money just waiting in line. watched the usual super dogs and also the peking dance show. grab donuts from that original mini donut place, was alright. taste like all the other donuts. didn't see a lot of freebies this year like the years before. I found paying for food, the tips were pretty high starting, on some of the food places. do you guys usually pay for the tip or just skip for food at the fair? |
I press skip for sure, they're not serving me or cleaning up after me and the food is overpriced as it is |

Tips? Damn, I just kept tapping the credit card without looking. I spent too much time gambling at the casino (loose term) tents. I do miss playing bingo at the PNE, lol. My son and daughter seemed to enjoy the PNE. Nothing like when they were toddlers. Now they're taking the old man out to the PNE. I want grandchildren, damnit!!! Then, my life would be complete. |
There’s so much free parking around Notre Dame school, super short walk. |
I’m not tipping a dime with that stupid fucking cup charge.. Every bar has the sign “there is an additional .25 cent charge as per CoV” I told the first guy I saw I’ll skip the cup then, he’s like sorry can’t. Ok.. |
people are tipping for food at the PNE now? WOW, this is getting out of control. If I'm not sitting at a restaurant getting service I do not tip. |
