How many miles on that thing? Fox all the rings? Screw that haha.

mikemhg 08-23-2021 04:09 PM

^27K :lol

TypeRNammer 08-23-2021 04:12 PM

Just wow, $14K to fix the motor, then trading it in for a Tesla at wholesale price. Literally pissing and shitting out money like it's nothing.

sdubfid 08-23-2021 05:13 PM

4K to replace 5 piston rings when the engine is already apart? Did they say if a ringland broke or are they actually just replacing 1 piston ring? Somethings not adding up.

bcrdukes 08-23-2021 05:43 PM

Happy for him, but...? :inoutugh:

JDMDreams 08-23-2021 06:02 PM

But model 3 is for poor people he at least needs a model y performance to not downgrade from the Sq5:lawl:

trollface 08-23-2021 06:15 PM

Now I know why it seems like I cant afford to drive anything.

Non CPA accountants make 6 figures?

Granted it's been a few years since I was articling but freshly minted CPAs were high 50s to low 60s at a firm.

And last I heard big 4 were planning on lowering the starting salary for first years to mid 30s lol

... More realistically it sounds like dude isn't an accountant but is just going through the process to get his letters while working at something else :lol

I agree wtf is this, I would've just asked him to fix NOTHING, put everything back, drive a beater for 4 months and trade the audi in as-is.

yray 08-23-2021 09:43 PM

I'll buy audi for 5k as is

mikemhg 08-24-2021 11:25 AM

He's going the 1 piston route in terms of repair.

Mechanic is saying they will impose no mark ups on the parts, and that they will give him a deal on labor. I'll post his entire costs when completed.

But yes, quite from drop from a Sq5 to a Model 3 :lol

He just wants to walk away from the vehicle at this point, and crazy thing he just paid the entire vehicle off earlier this year. Not sure the math on this, but Telsa has told him his trade-in cost will be roughly $4-5K (I'm paraphrasing).

To the person asking about his CPA, he's working in an executive level role within the company, not a newbie graduate, in his late 30's.

bcrdukes 08-24-2021 11:30 AM

It's probably too late, but I'd go out on a limb to assume someone here on Revscene would likely have offered him more for the vehicle as-is. I can think of a few candidates off the top of my head, myself being one of them. We'll just have to let bygones be bygones. :okay:

RIP SQ5

vitaminG 08-24-2021 11:55 AM

^Tesla is obviously offering him more than 5k for the car. A running 2018 sq5 is like 40-50k. He cant be that dumb right... In case he is I'd gladly trade him my fully functional s4 for his busted sq5

bcrdukes 08-24-2021 02:32 PM

Maybe mikemhg has been trolling us this entire time and none of this is even real haha

roastpuff 08-24-2021 02:55 PM

Yeah what the hell, I would have offered to buy the car from him outright....

I think Mike means the Model3 will cost him $5k more than the trade-in value of his SQ5

M Speed 08-25-2021 02:26 AM

Sounds like the SQ5 trade in is valued at $47K and the "friend" will pay $5K more to get a Model 3 SR+. SR+ is $52K out the door after govt incentives.

I'll gladly let my kid and dog trash a busted sq5 over my well kept s4

mikemhg 08-25-2021 05:17 PM

LOL, I'm definitely not trolling here.

As it stands, the car is sitting in the shop for a bit, apparently parts are going to take some time to arrive, so no news on that front.

In terms of the Telsa, they're not offering him $5K :lol The guy isn't an idiot here.

With trade-in along with incentives, he'll walk away with a Model3 for that additional amount (roughly $5K).

The Model3 won't be ready until January of next year, so if someone is interested in checking out his vehicle, he'd be open to that for sure.

He wanted to go EV as his next vehicle anyways, so this only expedited that decision, he loves this car though.

Is he open to selling as is before the ib motors "volkwagon" shop gets their dick beaters all over it?

mikemhg 08-26-2021 12:18 PM

So people above were correct, Tesla is essentially offering him around 43K once repaired, plus trade in tax benefit of $5K for the EV.

Vitamin or anyone else, I'm sure he'd be interested in hearing any offers before any work begins on the vehicle.

If so, shoot me a PM, and I can provide you with his direct contact info.
