Also it’s not just Canada production it’s world production.

In some casual google searches it looks like Ford built about 34,000 MK3 Focus RS so I don’t think it qualifies anyway…

That's why you buy German cars - you don't have share models with these other plebs (joke)

Fun fact, the M3 is just a M3, not a 3 series. The Type R is a Civic. Sad.

Is there a formal letter you need from Mercedes to give to ICBC to get this done?

I just emailed and inquired about the Veloster N and they sent back this

Has to be 15 years or older at minimum to qualify for limited production.

It's pretty hit or miss with the manufacturers as well. I submitted an inquiry regarding RC F / GS F production numbers and both Lexus Canada and USA gave a generic 'we don't share this info' response.

Honda Canada also gave a "we don't share this info" response.

LOL people thinking they can get collector plates on their 2022! Sure can... in 2037

They also have significant caveats... ie: you cannot drive even ONE day to work or school EVER... and you have to have a primary vehicle insured regularly.

Although you can still get collector plates on an eligible vehicle you drive to/from work and school... like the actual plate... but you just don't get the cost savings.

Will check back in 2037

Would be nice to have it on your sports cars. It's annoying to store them till summer to save money. If it was $500/year, it'd be nice to drive even in Fall/Winter when it's sunny. With WFH, even one car is pushing it

I don't think anyone here was aiming to get collector plates on their <15yo car? It's pretty clear-cut what the eligibility requirements are on the ICBC website, but getting official production numbers from the manufacturer for ICBC can be challenging.

I’m close to getting the collectors plate on her dads sc430. Can’t wait. Not sure how his new rims will work as they aren’t those pie plates anymore so they might neg it.

For at least some of my friends back in the late 90's and through the late 2000's, it wasn't so much that they didn't have the money to buy an ITR or S2k. Instead, while they were car enthusiasts and many have driven or were already driving Hondas, they weren't die hard Honda fanbois. As such, they felt their money would have been better spent on a Bimmer / Mercedes or even a Porsche than blowing it on "just a Honda". Of course, perceptions change, and cult status isn't something people can readily predict.

IMO, that perception has largely changed now, and people -- esp car enthusiasts -- are perfectly comfortable with buying high end, high dollar specialty models from mainstream, mass market manufacturers.

Back in 2005 I was looking at a gry market 288gto for $55G. I was renting in E Van with no parking, at that time I had 5 beaters insured and parked on the streets around town. I decided to put the money on a house instead, who knew that would now be a $3mil car.

I know. Was just curious if it's the same one Richard knows of, seeing as Ford only made 107 of them.

I went to Blue Star's page and they have cars listed as 'The Collection' (no price)

It includes 8 Vipers and...
