I was yelling at the TV too - not the first time this season Stroll has made shithead moves on the straights to defend. Dude thinks it's Mario Kart rules. Alonso was so close to ending up in the gap in the wall too. The outcome would have been disastrous.

On F1s YouTube coverage the guest commentator, I think he's from nascar or Indy was saying in their races they're not allowed to defend reactively so as to avoid dangerous situations, they're only allowed to preemptively defend

then @ 21:45 they commentate on it and all agree it was fkd up by stroll but also note a lot of drivers are doing it because no ones really coming down on them with a hammer

Just watched the race unspoiled! That was fun! Too bad Alonso got penalized, but I guess you kind of figure it can happen if you keep your car in the race after a crash like that.

I assume Stroll was also penalized and maybe disqualified for the unsafe block? Will he miss any races? Probably should be suspended for at least one.

Nice to see Red Bull have some adversity for once, and they were able to overcome it - barely! If they didn't have that awful pit stop, it would have been an easy win for Verstappen, but that made it more entertaining.

It was funny seeing all the penalties constantly popping up throughout the race.. eventually they didn't even bother to show the incidents, there were so many of them

I still don't understand why Alonso was retroactively penalized but Checo wasn't. They both had parts of their car come loose from an incident that eventually fell off. Why is a mirror worth a penalty but a wing tip is not?

Supposedly RBR contacted race control about if they should come in and was told its fine, and that was their saving grace

Yeah, the last 2 seasons really seem to be about putting RBR ahead of the other teams for some reason. I'd much rather see 3 teams at the top fighting for the driver/team championship instead of one team running away with it. It's just so boring watching RB coast to victory.
