Now to actually be able to get one... :dizzy:

Bender Unit 09-14-2022 10:06 AM

ALOT of potential for Core model with F&R LSDs as standard

EvoFire 09-14-2022 10:38 AM

But I want that CF roof and a big wang

underscore 09-14-2022 11:16 AM

I'm relieved to hear the LSDs are standard. That means the Core has everything I want and nothing I don't.

If Toyota wasn't only making like 10 of them available for the whole Canada, I would totally have gone to the bank to take out a second HELOC to fund the purchase. :drunk:

I keep flip flopping. I want one pretty bad but don’t really want to be in auto loan again. But…. Do I really want my next car to be an ICE? I feel we’re kind of done with that now.

I never put a deposit down so it doesn’t fuckin matter anyways

Badhobz 09-14-2022 12:05 PM

i dont know, the more i see it, the more i dont think its worth that kinda scratch *it'll be 60k+ after taxes if you get the circuit edition*

exterior - widebody kit on a corolla XSE hatch
interior - doesnt even have an arm rest, yeah you get some better seats, but thats abou it
engine - 3 cylinder turbo that doesnt sound great and only rev's to 7k

at 40k canadian this is a no brainer, but not at 50-60k canadian. wayy too much money

bcrdukes 09-14-2022 12:13 PM

Badhobz, let's hope they release a limited edition in Ratrolla Blue. :D

MSRP: $90K+ :lol

id pickup a used m2, or even that new M240i, or wait for the new m2 if youre gonna spend that kinda change on a ratrolla

headhunt3r 09-14-2022 12:58 PM

In Throttle House's video they said the production version will have an armrest. It just didn't make it to the prototype version they got, which I suspect is the same car that the StraightPipes got.

It may not rev super high but that boost sound and the gurgle on lift off sounds awesome.

Let's be honest with each other - Will the BMW be as reliable as the Corolla? :troll:
Or are we feeling the hate of the Blue Corolla from the Stock and Noob Meet? :D

Badhobz 09-14-2022 01:28 PM

i hope that 3 cylinder with massive boost (25.2psi) is reliable. i mean its a real toyota engine so it should be okay, but still got my doubts. Seems like a stressed little motor.

68style 09-14-2022 01:44 PM

Someone posted a video on one of the racing chats showing valve issues from some shop abroad... blew their second motor now because of it... but also a shop that beats the living snot out of their cars.

Still concerning though.

underscore 09-14-2022 01:47 PM

After taxes and fees an XSE gets up to $36k, there's no way a Circuit could ever be under $40k delivered. A Core being $18k more seems pretty reasonable to me.

I'm the same. I really want one but I've never had a car loan and the payments on this won't be cheap.

That's part of why I want an ICE. Eventually we'll be completely done with that and I want to enjoy them while I can.

Eh. You’re talking to a guy who has a focus RS and STi hatch. Awd turbo manual hatchbacks are kind of my thing. And I think this will be one of the last greats

Badhobz 09-14-2022 02:09 PM

im with you on hot hatches, but 60k(tax in) is bonkers money for a hot hatch. Looking at the lap time on that throttle house review of the GR ratrolla, its only a bit more than half a second faster than the GR86 and the 86 is way more playful while being almost half the money.

Core starts at 46k
Circuit is 55k
Mirzo is 60k

No inflation
2020 STi base 43k
2017 focus RS base 50k
2022 golf r base 45k
2015 evolution 49k

Seems in line for the non-luxury awd ‘rally’ cars

Badhobz 09-14-2022 02:33 PM

yeah but youre not going to buy the core version, its lacking the LSD's a lot of other performance features. Circuit edition seems like an almost must here...

so 55k+ plus some minor options and taxes and you'll be well over 60k at this point.
Sti for 43k seems like a total bargin here.

underscore 09-14-2022 02:46 PM

The LSDs are a 1k option in the US and standard in Canada. The Circuit is mostly a cosmetics package up here (vented hood, heated wheel, carbon roof, 2 more speakers, red paint on the calipers). The performance is identical. Playing around with the Toyota pricing thing and a Core should be $53,500 all in.

Badhobz 09-14-2022 02:48 PM

is it? then its not so bad. 53k is more in line with what i expect.

radeonboy 09-14-2022 03:51 PM

Pricing for the base model fell in line with what I expected from Toyota. It makes sense for them to price the base GR Corolla right in line with the Golf R and FK8 given how successful those two models sold. I'm not sure if those higher trims are worth the price hike personally.

It's a nice piece of kit, but the reviews didn't create any extra excitement for the vehicle.

68style 09-24-2022 06:43 AM

Not sure what thread to put it in but I saw the Z pricing just went up on the Canada website finally… $46,498 for the Sport and $58,498 for the Performance.

Pretty decent pricing compared to the Supra, but any of us who’ve been around for awhile can’t help but cringe at that pricing for a Z car regardless of its performance… 350 and 370 were never anywhere near that top end price.

We also have less colours and options available compared to USA it seems.

In isolation it all seems nuts but a loaded brand new Honda CR-V is $57k all in. Pricing is just nuts nowadays.

twitchyzero 09-24-2022 11:46 AM

apparently these take 10x the production time than regular rollas

if you're lucky enough to get Circuit even above MSRP then you wont lose a penny should you need to sell

morizo edition is a masterpiece, wow... im on that kool-aid now seriously doubt the FL5 Type R will come close

Badhobz 09-24-2022 03:25 PM

are you guys not worried about this super stressed 3 cylinder? seems insane to be running that much boost (25+psi) all the time while still remaining reliable
